Job Purpose

Pattern Energy is excited to hire our summer 2023 interns! Pattern Energy’s Summer Internship Program gives undergraduate and graduate students hands-on experience to develop technical skills and a better understanding of the renewable industry. This internship program runs for approximately 10-12 weeks and includes a formal welcome, mentorship opportunities, and diverse exposure to executives and business units. This is one way that Pattern Energy supports the renewable energy industry and invests in the next generation of great minds.

The External Affairs team is seeking an intern to support Pattern’s Sustainability Program, including a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. The role will work with and have exposure to various business and governance functions, including corporate communications, stakeholder engagement, and the company’s Sustainability Advisory Committee and Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council. This internship will give you the opportunity to gain a basic knowledge and understanding of general sustainability practices, policies, and initiatives through hands-on involvement.

Work duties include research, data analysis, writing, collecting information for sustainability reporting across Pattern’s departments and disciplines, and industry research and peer benchmarking assessments.

Key Accountabilities

• Support the Director, External Affairs and Sustainability with the ongoing management and implementation of the Sustainability program objectives.
• Perform research on sustainability, diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, best practices, policies, and metrics.
• Complete benchmarking and analyses of ESG frameworks and industry peer companies.
• Participate in developing communication and engagement materials for internal and external audiences.
• Completion of a formal internship project.
• Other tasks as assigned.

• Minimum working towards a bachelor’s degree in sustainability or similar discipline.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an ability to express ideas effectively and fluently.
• Ability to work in a collaborative environment where teamwork and independent work ethic are essential.
• Ability to synthesize and organize large amounts of information.
• Ability to organize time well and set proper priorities.

This position will commence in late May-early June through August 2023.
