Position Overview

Reporting to the Director of Accessibility Services,the Student Programming Specialist will be required to:

  • Coordinate all programs in Accessibility Services, and communicate with outside agencies as needed.
  • Assists with planning, developing, scheduling, budgeting, and marketing of Accessibility Services programs.
  • Provide in-service training and disability awareness programming to the university community in identifying and responding to the needs of students.
  • Responsible for monitoring and supervising special projects, such as Disability Awareness Month, Image Impact, and the master programming calendar.
  • Oversee the programming budget, including tracking, billing, payments and other financial transactions.
  • Create and maintain programming records, evaluations, reports, presentations and proposals.
  • Determine appropriate support services and accommodations as applicable under ADA/ADAAA/504 laws for students requesting services or accommodations through services for students with disabilities based on a thorough review of disability documentation, student interviews and University standards, in consultation with the Accessibility Services Director.

Until further notice, this is a hybrid position, eligible to work remotely and work in the office, and this position is based in New York, NY.

Candidates will be required to provide proof of being fully vaccinated against COVID-19 upon commencing employment. Exemption (medical or religious) requests to this requirement will be considered in accordance with applicable law. Being fully vaccinated is defined for this purpose as being at least two weeks past their final dose of an authorized COVID-19 vaccine regimen. Final candidates must be fully vaccinated as of their first day of employment.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree and four years’ related experience required.

  • Assists with daily supervision of the unit, including budgets, personnel supervision, and facilities/equipment management
  • Provides guidance and advisement to student organizations, administrators, faculty and others on concerns and issues related to students with special needs
  • Interacts with counselors, disability accommodations specialists, and external community organizations to maintain a broad inventory of available services
  • Presents programs and workshops, and prepares communications to students and others promoting the goals of the unit
  • Organizes and provides for assistive technology and interpretive services
  • May develop and/or review individual educational plans that incorporate individually designed academic support services and accommodations within the guidelines of the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
