Under the leadership of the Asia Regional Director, the Oxfam Regional Platform provides strategic leadership, management and acts as a convener and connecter across all Oxfam stakeholders in Asia and globally.

The Role

Oxfam International Asia Regional Platform is looking for a Strategic Advisor – Rights in digital space and data justice – Asia. This is a new strategic role designed to lead Oxfam in Asia’s strategic ambition to ensure “that digital spaces are leveraged to strengthen the rights of Asian people, reducing inequality and poverty in Asia’’. The role will support Oxfam and partners digital rights and data justice work across all our work in Asia including advocacy to ensure the rights of people in the digital space are protected and addressing digital inequality. This role will contribute and influence Oxfam confederation efforts in this area and support a shift in thinking as it relates to rights in a digital age to maximize quality and impact.

Who we’re looking for

We are looking for Strategic Advisor – Rights in digital space and data justice – Asia with at least 5-7 years of experience in working on rights in digital space and issues around big data with knowledge of opportunities, challenges and emerging trends in the digital rights and data justice sector. including legal frameworks and context in Asia and globally, and digital divide.

S/he will have extensive knowledge around access and use of various digital platforms and tools, and cutting-edge technologies (block chain, AI etc.). S/he should have Master level degree in technology, social science and/or human rights. S/he should have good exposure to relevant network and stakeholders related to digital rights.

The strategic advisor has strong strategic, analytical and conceptual thinking skills with ability and curiosity to think outside the box.S/he is an excellent communicator who is able to explain and inspire others in a multi-cultural environment. S/he should be someone who takes initiative. A self-starter who focuses on solutions and demonstrated sensitivity towards gender issues.
