HelpAge International is recruiting for Regional Project Advocacy and Communications Coordinator in providing humanitarian assistance to address critical gaps in healthcare and protection (specifically GBV) services for the most vulnerable groups, in particular people with disabilities and older people, while contributing to building crisis resilience among Syrian refugees and host communities living in urban areas of Jordan (Amman, Irbid and Zarqa governorates) and Lebanon (Beirut and Mount Lebanon). HelpAge is working with one partner in Jordan and one partner in Lebanon to implement health and protection activities through clinics and community outreach activities.

Key areas for impact, influence and responsibility

Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the Regional Project Advocacy and Communications Coordinator will lead on all advocacy and communications activities of HelpAge in Jordan and Lebanon. S/he will be responsible for developing and/or reviewing all communications materials and for creating and maintaining online web and social media content for HelpAge International‘s projects. S/he will coach and provide on-the-job training to partners’ staff in the fields of advocacy, voice and mobilisation of older people. The Regional Project Advocacy and Communications Coordinator is expected to support with the implementation of the overall programme strategy of HelpAge, including the localisation strategy in Jordan.

Job activities

· Organise and lead on all advocacy and policy initiatives of HelpAge in Jordan and Lebanon including advocacy campaigns, workshops with external stakeholders, production of policy or advocacy briefs, mobilisation and training of older people to support them raising their voice and advocate for their rights with the government and other stakeholders.

· Coaching and on-the-job capacity building of partners’ staff on older people’s mobilisation, voice and advocacy.

· Develop and/or review communication materials produced by HelpAge in Jordan or Lebanon and ensure compliance with HelpAge brand name’s rules.

· Create and maintain content for HelpAge International in Jordan’s associated web properties and flagship social media accounts.

· Establish, implement, and maintain processes, guidelines, and schedules to ensure content remains up-to-date and is continually refreshed on website.

Experience and skills

Essential

· At least 2 years of experience in advocacy and communications

· At least 5 years of experience working for an NGO in a humanitarian context

· Good attention to details and good analytical skills

· Computer literate (i.e. WORD, advanced Excel, Outlook, Internet Explorer, content design for webpage

· Excellent planning, management and coordination skills, with the ability to organise a workload comprised of varying and changing tasks and responsibilities

· Strong communication (written and spoken) in English and Arabic

· Excellent writing skills

· Excellent interpersonal skills

· Comply with HelpAge International’s policies and practice with respect to child protection, code of conduct, health and safety, equal opportunities, fraud and other relevant policies and procedures.

Desirable

· Experience of working with partners and networks and implementing capacity-building activities (including on-the-job coaching)

· Experience of working in coordination with international and local NGOs

· Experience with institutional donors
