What we are looking for

NRC is looking for a Regional Head of Health, Safety & Security to join the Asia Regional Office. The Regional Head of Health, Safety & Security will serve as the lead technical resource on health, safety, and security risks and crisis management across the Asia region.

This is an opportunity to join the Regional Management Team and to work closely with the various functional units and sections within the Regional Office to provide strategic direction to the Regional Management Team and Country Offices in the region, in order to ensure NRC’s global health, safety, and security standards are met, as well as contextualized and fit to ensure staff safety and duty of care, as well as enable programme implementation on the ground. The role will also technically assist country offices forecast health, safety, and security related challenges and strategically contingency plan for them.

What you will do

  • Strategy and budget development and implementation.
  • Health, safety, and security risk management culture promotion and stimulation.
  • Health, safety, and security context regional overview and security development.
  • Health, safety, and security compliance to key controls and standards.
  • Risk management compliance at country and regional level.
  • Crisis management capacity development.
  • Support, mentor, train, and develop health, safety, and security staff.
  • Technical guidance provision on specialised issues.

What you will bring

  • Security management operations experience in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Security risk management teams’ development track record.
  • Programme design and/or implementation, related to humanitarian response, demonstrated experience.
  • Humanitarian health, safety, and security management and duty of care best practices advanced knowledge.
  • Situational analysis and contingency planning demonstrable skills.
  • Crisis / incident management experience.
  • Humanitarian principles, codes of conduct, and NGO organisational culture understanding.
  • Risk assessment and management best practices and international standards knowledge.
  • Humanitarian security management best practices expertise.
  • English fluency, both written and verbal.

What we offer

  • Oslo, Norway duty station, preferably.
  • Permanent contract.
  • 30% travel, approximately.
