Generic responsibilities

  1. Ensure adherence with NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines including compliance
  2. Prepare and develop progress reports as required by the Project Manager and Coordinator.
  3. Ensure that projects target beneficiaries most in need, and explore and share different ways to assist
  4. Promote and share ideas for technical improvement in the design, delivery, and monitoring of the activities.
  5. Implement delegated Livelihoods project portfolio according to plan of action.
  6. Ensure proper filing of documents

 

Specific responsibilities

  • Assist the project PM and PC in designing of agricultural inputs packages and BoQs for the agriculture focused activities.
  • Facilitate the training sessions in the Agriculture Demo Plot while using Farmers Field School (FFS) approach/methodology.
  • Support/assist the Farmer Groups in development of Business Plans to improve and prepare BoQs for Agriculture demo plots for the Field Farmer School (FFS)
  • Leading field teams (assistants and incentive workers) in implementing livelihood and Agriculture Value Chain Activities in the field as per work plan.
  • Implement livelihoods needs and market assessments questionnaires through Focus Group Discussions, household surveys, and Key Informant Interviews, with assistants and enumerators
  • Lead on beneficiary selection according to the agreed criteria
  • Responsible for the farmers’ mobilization at the field level to increase the membership in farmer Alliances.
  • Assist the PM and PC in organizing ToT (Training of Trainers) and training multiplications in the field for the farmers and youth.
  • Monitor all program activities in the field training and rollout sessions and farmer field school (FFS).
  • Prepare weekly work plan and progress reports and share it with Project Coordinator.
  • Supervision and management of field staff including work development planning and performance management review and staff leave management.
  • Raise procurement requisition as per procurement and spending plans for the project activities.

Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Competencies

  • Preferred minimum required qualification Bachelor’s  in Agriculture/Agronomy/Horticulture/Veterinary from a recognized University.
  • Experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
  • Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
  • Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
  • A Minimum of 3 years of previous experience working in rea levant field
  • Strong understanding of the agriculture, and agribusiness context in Basra.
  • Strong technical skills in designing Agriculture BoQs, inputs packages, Business Plans, and agriculture infrastructure-related needs.
  • Experience in designing and conducting technical trainings for the farmers and youth on agriculture crops production, processing, and post-harvest issues.
  • Experience working directly with vulnerable groups; able to demonstrate conflict-sensitivity, compassion, discretion.
  • Ability to manage high/low workload and ability to work under pressure and with limited supervision in a challenging environment.
  • Good knowledge of MS, Excel, PowerPoint,  Outlook, and email communications.
  • Fluent in Arabic and knowledge of English (basic proficiency is desirable)

Other Information:
Contract Duration: 8 months 
Duty Station: Basra – Iraq 
Health Insurance is provided.
Salary: G5/S1, according to NRC’s Iraq salary scale and terms and conditions.
