What Makes This Position Attractive?

  • Afghanistan is facing an unprecedented humanitarian crisis with a risk of systemic collapse and human catastrophe. Following 40-years of constant war and a situation of increasing hunger, economic decline, and rising poverty levels, the country has faced intensified conflict, the worst drought in 27-years, with some areas subject to extreme flooding, the withdrawal of international forces/diplomatic presence, and the take-over of the country by the Taliban. The resulting political, social, and economic shocks continue to resound across the country with a deterioration of the humanitarian and protection situation.
  • This is an opportunity to contribute to the protection and assistance of vulnerable, crisis affected, marginalised, and under-served communities. NRC Afghanistan maintains a presence in 14 provinces across the country and is the largest INGO in the country, at a programmatic, field coverage, and staff count level.
  • Meaningful work that responds to the diverse needs, priorities, and concerns raised by beneficiary communities. NRC Afghanistan meets immediate humanitarian needs, prevents further displacement, and contributes to durable solutions.
  • Female candidates are strongly encouraged to join our work culture that empowers every employee to share ideas and take responsibility.

What We Offer

  • Mazar, Afghanistan duty station.
  • 12-month contract duration (renewable, subjecting to funding and need).
  • 70% travel, approximately.
  • Grade 8 in NRC’s Salary Scale. NRC offers a competitive compensation and benefits package.
  • NRC is an equal opportunities employer and aims to have staffing diversity in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, nationality, and physical ability.
  • We think outside the box, encourage ideas, and give responsibility to all employees at all levels. You will have many opportunities to be heard and take the initiative.
