Reclaim Finance is an NGO founded in 2020 and is 100% dedicated to issues linking finance with social and climate justice. It is affiliated with Friends of the Earth France. In the context of the climate emergency and biodiversity losses, one of Reclaim Finance’s priorities is to accelerate the decarbonization of financial flows. Reclaim Finance exposes the climate impacts of some financial actors, denounces the most harmful practices and puts its expertise at the service of public authorities and financial stakeholders who desire to to bend existing practices to ecological imperatives.

Based in London, UK – Reclaim Finance seeks to appoint an

INTERNATIONAL MEDIA RELATIONS OFFICER

Reclaim Finance is seeking an experienced communication professional with a knack for telling simple, powerful stories that synthesize complex issues and cut through a crowded media landscape. Applicants should be proactive and a team player with strong interpersonal communications skills. The successful candidate can work independently, in a fast-paced environment; has a proven track record planning and executing media campaigns informed by data that drive measurable results, and demonstrable sound judgement and attention to detail. Applicants should be rigorous, fast-acting and flexible, as well as passionate about fighting for climate justice.

The International Media Relations Officer will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Developing and implementing the organisation’s international media relations strategy
  • Work closely with the team of campaigners to define short and medium-term media strategy, with the aim of maximizing press exposure for major campaign moments.
  • Identify and make the most of communication moments and flashpoints, including leveraging breaking news;
  • Ensure the coordination of messages and media releases with our international partners;
  • Set up a dashboard to evaluate the effectiveness of PR actions with KPIs.
  • Engaging with and pitching to media
  • Develop and maintain relations with key outlets and journalists;
  • Create campaign frames, messages and talking points;
  • Develop and pitch media stories to mainstream and niche finance industry media outlets;
  • Organize press events;
  • Write press releases, help plan and edit reports;
  • Disseminate reports, press releases and press kits using our press system;
  • Maintain and update press lists and press tracker;
  • Carry out quantitative and qualitative reporting of media coverage.

The International Media Relations Officer must meet the following criteria:

  • A minimum of five years’ experience in communications
  • Proven ability to understand and analyze complex issues and communicate them clearly to targeted audiences;
  • Media relations experience including pitching and landing top-tier media;
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and can produce content quickly;
  • English native speaker, good level of spoken and written French is strongly desired but not essential (possibility of language training)
  • Experience in climate, finance or clean energy a plus;
  • Experience using PR software a plus
