Internship Job Title: Nutrition Process Engineer NOTE: Internship is for Summer of 2023 You must be enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s or PHD Degree program at the time of the internship. How would an intern contribute to the team’s success: This position will contribute to the team’s overall success by helping to identify, troubleshoot, design and run experiments that enable the manufacture of our softgel line of products. An example of a typical project is: Current issues associated with softgel manufacturing are dissolution failures, moisture level in finished softgel and limited natural colorant options. The intern would be tasked to investigate one of these issues based upon interest and priority. This will involve developing an understanding of the issue by reading the scientific literature and speaking with internal experts, running experiments in the pilot manufacturing facilities in Buena Park, CA, generating data, analyzing results and proposing additional experiments as needed. An example project flow:
Identify the possible causes of manufacturing challenges associated with softgels
Hypothesize potential solutions
Test 1-2 hypotheses, generate results and interpret data What skills and background will be important to be successful in this internship? Desired Skills: Chemical Engineering major preferred. Proficient with Office tools (Excel, Access etc.). Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
