Duration:               2022

Duty Station:         Erbil District.

 

Brief description of the organization

Al Mesalla for Human Resources Development is a non-governmental organization established in 2004 registered in Baghdad and Erbil with headquarters located in Erbil. The organization is working at disseminating a culture of human rights and peace building in Iraq and the Kurdistan Region. The organization is currently working along 3 programs: a non-violence and peace building program developing peace capacities within the community; a women and Gender program empowering women to take an active role in the community and a Human Rights Program which focuses especially on enhancing freedom of expression. Since June 2014, Al Mesalla developed services to the growing refugee and displaced community settling in the Kurdish Region of Iraq by participating to distributing emergency support and establishing empowerment and livelihoods programs for displaced women in particular.

 

Background of Project

The partnership with Al-Mesalla started in 2019 implementing provisions of case management services for GBV (female and male) survivors, including psychosocial support (PSS) and referrals to specialized services provided by other NGOs and/or government services, as well as awareness raising activities on GBV among refugees and IDPs, as well as the host community in the Erbil governorate

The project will continue in 2022. This year, Al-Mesalla aims to strengthen the quality of the services that have been provided, expanding our outreach to communities, and enhancing their mechanism for GBV prevention, mitigation and response.

  

EMAP project:

Alongside providing GBV Case management, Al Mesalla in partnership with UNHCR will continue EMAP Project as an extension to the GBV case management project through Engaging men in accountable practices to end GBV, Domestic Violence and Gender Related issues, according to the EMAP Guidelines and toolkits.

Through Community based FGDs engaging both female and Male and create curricula’s to be used through implementation of EMAP. Also working toward making female voices to be heard and considered on male Role in ending GBV through intensive weekly basis sessions and developed Curricula’s for both female and male FGs. Maintain the relation with the Communities to provide mentoring on EMAP.

Also, after completing each round of EMAP to conduct assessments on Community level to assess the changes happened through EMAP.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSABILITIES:

As EMAP supervisor:

1.EMAP supervisor will be responsible for establishing and developing EMAP guideline/Tool’s programming within the Erbil district through FGD.

  1. Supporting Community Individuals within Vulnerable populations, supportive and solidarity, providing a space/Focus group discussion where Female and males are encouraged to think, express, create and act, where they can develop confidence, voice and am manual for ending GBV.
  2. Support and equip the male individuals to be a part on Ending GBV, Domestic Violence and influence the others to be a part of GBV response and Mitigation.
  3. Participate in assessments, and contribute to the overall intervention strategy based on feedback received from community voices both Female and male throughout implementation.
  4. Strictly adhere to GBV guiding principle while engaging and Implementing EMAP project.
  5. Supervise and capacitate local community and refugee mentors formally and informally to provide quality life skill sessions through training, daily mentoring, weekly meeting, and applying regular knowledge and skills assessment tools.
  6. In collaboration with other staff and community leaders, develop a selection criterion of Female and male committees to engage them in EMAP toolkit curriculum sessions.
  7. Under the supervision and support of Project manager, the EMAP supervisor will conduct EMAP Programming related capacity building trainings for mentors, community leaders, implementing partners and community influencers.
  8. Directly engage with Community Individuals as required, and work with FGD facilitators to ensure the quality of the program.
  9. Build a relationship with all relevant GBV program stakeholders, community leaders, and parents/care givers in the local community to encourage greater communication, collaboration and coordination.
  10. Work on the start-up and implementation of the female groups/male Groups and weekly sessions, ensuring groups are formed in a safe, comfortable, and confidential manner and environment.
  11. Ensure that the resources developed for EMAP, any activities and programming have a psychosocial and well-being component, and that FGD individuals in the program are provided with strong and regular psychosocial support.
  12. Closely work with FGD facilitators, community mobilizers, Community Leaders/Influencers for outreach and awareness raising on EMAP at community-level, and get their support in the facilitation of relevant activities.
  13. Seek technical guidance and support from the Project manager on activity development implementation and available resources.

15.Think Out of the box and creativity to liaises with the Refugees and IDPs communities in order to successfully Implementing EMAP project sessions and Activities.

16.Report weekly progresses on EMAP, Weekly meetings with EMAP facilitators and provide the progress report to the partner under project manager supervisory.

 

Capacity Building officer:

  1. Develop Al Mesalla’s capacity building database. Input all detailed information of each staff on Capacity building progress and continuously updating the database.
  2. Developing annual Action plan for the working year on Capacity Building indicator within the project.
  3. Developing and organizing FGDs and Surveys to select quarterly topics of Capacity building for Both GBV /Non GBV service providers, Community leaders and community members against the target.
  4. Close coordination with women Led organization and conducting series capacity building session and trainings.
  5. Advocacy, rising awareness and capacity building on Engaging men in accountable practices within KRI social society service providers.
  6. Maintain close coordination with NGOs, Governmental sector to maintain the achievements of capacity building indicator against the target.
  7. Develop Reporting Tools to Report against the quarterly and annual Achievements of Capacity Building of Al Mesalla’s staff capacity building and partners.
  8. Providing Technical support for Al Mesalla’s members and Partners on Project activities implementation.

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

-Bachelor’s degree in relevant field (Social Work, Psychology, Sociology, Gender Studies, etc.).

-Proven practical work experience with Vulnerable population communities on issues related to their empowerment, rights, GBV and gender issues.

-Proven experience and skills working with or engaging communities through Focus group discussions, especially Leader female and male whom have influence and impact on their Communities responses to GBV related issues, using highly participatory, creative/innovative, inclusive and sustainable approaches according to the EMAP Guidelines.

-Demonstrated ability to motivate, mobilize, energize, and inspire others, especially community Influencers through Implementation of activities under the TOR.

-Excellent practical individual and group facilitation skills, that respect professional boundaries, with diverse individuals and groups.

-Excellent Reporting skills to provide EMAP and CB Progressing through weekly, Monthly reports.

-Clear understanding of and interest in the wellbeing of FGD participants both female and Male, and supporting their healing after the experience of violence; human rights, gender.

-Excellent Understanding GBV, case management, psychosocial support and life skills programming to promote the project.

-Demonstrated understanding of and ability to maintain confidentiality and respect for beneficiaries.

-Excellent listening and effective communication skills

-Computer literate, particularly in Microsoft Word and Excel.

-Fluency in Arabic, English required both in Speaking and writing, Kurdish language is a plus.
