Job description

The specialist advises the Department of Environment and Tourism of the Khovd Provincial Administration on promoting cooperation among nature conservation stakeholders for the purpose of an integrated nature conservation approach and large-scale landscape protection, which combines the protection of ecosystems with an improvement of the living conditions of the local population. Relevant stakeholders include national and local protected areas, district and provincial administrations, international cooperation projects and the local population. The political partner of the project is the Ministry of Environment and Tourism.

Your tasks

  • Advising the Department of Environment and Tourism of the Khovd Provincial Administration with the aim of efficient and effective cooperation of all nature conservation stakeholders
  • Training and capacity development of nature conservation stakeholders on topics such as ecosystem protection and integrated nature and landscape conservation
  • Developing and support of studies and other activities to promote integrated nature and landscape conservation
  • Supporting the flow of information from the local level to the national level

Your profile

  • University degree (diploma/MSc) in protected area management, land management or other discipline relevant to the tasks
  • Practical experience in advisory work and networking
  • Intercultural and interpersonal skills
  • Experience and good skills in communication and mediation
  • Perseverance and positive attitude
  • Curiosity about another culture and willingness to engage with it and form sustainable working relationships with local partners
  • Ability to work in a participatory and interest-balancing manner
  • Business fluent in English; good knowledge of German would be an advantage
