Context
Ukraine is facing a humanitarian crisis that continues to develop every day. As hostilities escalate, a growing number of people is being displaced every day within Ukraine and across international borders, with more than 3 million having fled the country.
With the humanitarian situation in Ukraine and neighboring countries deteriorating rapidly, the International Red Cross Red Crescent Movement has activated all its emergency response mechanisms. Together ICRC, IFRC and National Societies are undertaking a rapid and coordinated response.
The Position
Under the supervision of the Head of zone at HQ, the head of delegation will be in charge of:
A- Representation
- represent the FRC to the Ukrainian Red Cross
- represent the FRC to other components of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement in-country and at regional level when requested or needed
- represent the FRC to local authorities and other humanitarian actors if requested and agreed with National Society
- represent the FRC to donors and other stakeholders
B- Strategy
- pursue and reinforce the positive working partnership within the RCRC Movement: pursue and develop the positive working partnerships with Partner National Societies (PNS), the ICRC and the IFRC present in country
- develop and increase the partnership with the Ukrainian Red Cross
- identify potential partnerships that could be established in the country
- elaborate project proposals in accordance with the strategy developed by the Ukrainian Red Cross and in coordination with other RC partners
Candidate profile
Educational background, experiences required, competencies and skills:
- graduate or post-graduate degree in relevant field
- strong work experience in a similar position
- previous experience with the RCRC Movement compulsory
- strong communication, analysis and reporting skills
- management qualities
- substantial experience of strategic thinking, including identifying, analyzing, problem solving and responding to opportunities and challenges and the ability to translate these into practical plans of action
- extensive knowledge and experience of project planning and budget holding, proposal and report writing
- advanced proficiency in English mandatory (oral and written)
- Ukrainian would be a strong asset
- strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
- flexible and proactive
