Tetra Tech International Development (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential position of Project-Technical Assistant Director of the Productive Ecosystems Activity (PEA) project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in Colombia. This five-year initiative will focus on nature-based solutions seeking to improve human well-being and biodiversity conservation and engaging key stakeholders particularly the private sector in the implementation of nature-based solutions that preserve ecosystems and ecosystem services.

The Deputy Project-Technical Director (DCOP-Technical) will be responsible for directing the technical components of the project related to nature-focused solutions in Colombia, as well as supervising intersectoral teams. Their role will also require the supervision of technical specialists and work with other objectives leaders, cross-sectoral staff and the Project Manager (COP) ensuring that technical products contribute to the achievement of the overall objectives of this project.

This potential long-term position will be based in Colombia for the entire duration of the project (which is expected to be a period of five years). It is required to be familiar with the biodiversity conservation sector in Colombia and to have experience working with the actors of the biodiversity or sustainability sector. The participation of the private sector in an environmental context is also required. It is advisable to have experience in work related to biodiversity conservation, sustainability, natural resource management, forestry, ecology, payments for ecosystem services or other environmental markets, and private sector collaboration. Likewise, the candidate is required to have strong communication skills in both English and Spanish, are excited to travel frequently to the sites where the project will carry out activities (field locations), have knowledge of MS Office applications and show a strong commitment to gender equality and social inclusion.

Responsibilities:

* Supervise the technical implementation of the project and ensure that the impact generated contributes to achieving the results defined in the contract.

* Provide specialized technical knowledge, support for the annual planning of project work and adaptive project management, as appropriate and in accordance with the objectives and goals set by the project.

* Assist in coordinating project implementation, offering support to personnel and subcontractor management, as well as effective budgeting and efficient financial management, as needed.

* Ensure coordination between project teams.

* Evaluate and document the progress made by the project, as well as the lessons learned.

* Assume responsibility for quality control, and timeliness of shipment of deliverables.

* Assume the position of Interim Director of the Project when the COP is not available.

Ratings:

* Have at least a university degree (preferably master’s degree) in biodiversity conservation, sustainability, natural resource management, forestry, ecology, biology, business administration or other relevant disciplines.

* Have at least eight years of experience, preferably in Colombia, in professional work within one or more of the following disciplines: biodiversity conservation, sustainability, natural resource management, natural resource-based livelihoods, value chains, forestry, ecology, payments for ecosystem services or other environmental markets, business administration, land use planning or other relevant technical areas.

* Have at least five years of experience in a supervisory position, in which he has managed multidisciplinary teams.

* Have a proven track record of working with multidisciplinary teams, interacting effectively with different actors, fostering collaborative learning and promoting gender equality and social inclusion.

* Have excellent communication skills, both in English and Spanish.

* Have a high degree of familiarity with the social, economic, environmental, cultural and political context in Colombia, especially in the PDET territories.
