Tetra Tech International Development (http://www.tetratech.com/intdev) is accepting expressions of interest from qualified candidates for a potential position of Director of the Productive Ecosystems Activity (PEA) project, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), in Colombia. This five-year initiative will focus on nature-based solutions seeking to improve human well-being and biodiversity conservation and engaging key stakeholders particularly the private sector in the implementation of nature-based solutions that preserve ecosystems and ecosystem services.

The Project Director (COP) will be responsible for leading all technical, financial and administrative aspects of the project and will coordinate closely with USAID in the development, implementation and review of the overall field strategy of the Activity. The Project Manager will be the primary liaison between USAID, Tetra Tech and other partners, providing overall strategic and technical guidance to subcontractors. The Project Director (COP) will provide comprehensive expert oversight and technical guidance in all aspects of the program, including monitoring, evaluation, and reporting to USAID. This will be a full-time position and will be located in Colombia for the entire life of the project (anticipated five-year term).

Responsibilities:

* Provide leadership and technical expertise for the project, supervise local teams and expatriates.

* Develop strategic objectives and confirm the project’s compliance with USAID regulations.

* Manage project implementation, including overall staff responsibility and efficient budget and financial management.

* Supervise the technical activities of the Project and ensure that the impact is achieving the results defined in the contract.

* Evaluate and document project progress and lessons learned.

* Assume responsibility for the overall management of USAID contracts ensuring quality control and timeliness of deliverables.

Requirements:

* Minimum a master’s degree in biodiversity conservation, sustainability, business administration, natural resource management, forestry, ecology, biology or some other relevant discipline.

* Minimum 10 years of experience in projects, preferably in Colombia, working in one or more technical disciplines: biodiversity conservation, sustainability, natural resource management, forestry, ecology, payments for environmental services or other environmental markets, business administration, territorial planning and/or other relevant technical areas.

* Minimum 5 years in director-level roles leading and managing complex development programs and multidisciplinary teams in the Latin American region, preferably as a project manager in a USAID-funded program or equivalent.

* Proven experience in managing multidisciplinary programs and development teams, interacting effectively with stakeholders, fostering collaborative learning and adaptive management, promoting gender equity and social inclusion.

* Excellent communication skills in English and Spanish.

* Experience with the political, social, economic, environmental and cultural context in Colombia and, in particular, the PDET regions of Colombia.

* Colombian citizens are strongly encouraged to apply.
