You will play a vital role in supporting UK businesses to export. As a member of DIT’s Exports Support Service (ESS), you will work with a range of business facing and specialist stakeholders to support individuals and businesses access export support.

As part of your work, you will lead on operations colleagues’ development and champion driving forward skills, knowledge and personal learning.

You Will

  • Develop the knowledge of export policy across the Export Support Service and relevant stakeholders, so you are able to support others in responding to exporters.
  • Leading in the development of knowledge and content management focussing on export support.
  • Work with colleagues within DIT and across Other Government Departments (OGDs) to improve the content we use to support exporters.
  • Drive the continuous improvement of existing information on gov.uk and elsewhere, developing a seamless feedback loop between user enquiries and online information.
  • Proactively identify upcoming issues and work with colleagues to develop policy compliant Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs).
  • Identify key trends in business queries, exploring these to provide more bespoke and detailed content to help responding to queries.
  • Provide upskilling sessions to call and support agents, both within DIT and the external contractor, re-enforcing their knowledge of key policy and export processes, to effectively support businesses.
  • Work with a range of specialist teams to develop training and upskilling products for colleagues across DIT.
  • To be responsible for the day-to-day leadership and management of 2 EOs managing the resources and successfully delivering the key targets to meet the needs of policy colleagues and end-users.
  • Champion learning and development across the team, supporting team members to develop their skills.

Hybrid Working

The role will be based in either Darlington or London. You will be asked to express a location preference during the application process.

Please be aware that this role can only be worked from within the UK and not overseas.

Informal hybrid working arrangements will be available as agreed with the vacancy manager and in line with the requirements of the role.

Most DIT employees will be working a hybrid pattern, spending 2-3 days a week (pro rata) in an office, on average. If your office location is London, you will be eligible to receive London weighting.

Appointments will be made to candidates in merit order based on location preferences.

Selection process details

After submission of the first stage of your application you will be invited to complete a Civil Service Judgement Test. If you successfully pass the test, you will be invited to complete the final stage of the application.

In your personal statement, please explain your motivation for applying for this role and the extent to which you satisfy the essential and desirable requirements of the role. Maximum word count of 500.

Existing Civil Servants and applicants from accredited NDPBs are eligible to apply, but will only be considered on loan basis (Civil Servants) or secondment (accredited NDPBs). Applicants who are successful at interview will be, as part of pre-employment screening, subject to a check on the Internal Fraud Database (IFD). This check also applies to employees who resign or otherwise leave before being dismissed for fraud or dishonesty had their employment continued. Any applicant’s details held on the IFD will be refused employment.
