The Lending Assistant provides administrative support to the Market President and Relationship Managers. Assists in providing support with the originating, documenting and closing of commercial and consumer loans.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  1. Works closely with the Market President and Relationship Managers to prepare loan packages for approval including, but not limited to, gathering of financial information, obtaining credit reports, ordering flood certifications, and title commitments. Also coordinates with outside counsel in loan documentation preparation as needed.
  2. Assists the Market President with market related administrative matters as needed.
  3. Keys certain loan information and data into the Bank’s loan platform system.
  4. Reviews prepared loan documents to verify accuracy and completeness. Explains any necessary changes as needed to the Loan Documentation Specialist.
  5. Assembles and forwards closed loan packages to Loan Operations for recording.
  6. Keeps abreast of commercial and consumer compliance, policy and regulatory lending requirements.
  7. Communicates with customers, attorneys, Market President and/or Relationship Managers to establish loan closing dates and coordinates settlements.
  8. Properly handles disbursements of loans in accordance with the Bank’s standards.
  9. Assists Market President and Relationship Managers in collection and clearing of loan exceptions.
  10. Assists Market President and Relationship Managers with the collection of delinquent loan accounts.
  11. Assists Market President and Relationship Managers with Asset Quality reporting.
  12. Coordinates or directly resolves customer loan inquiries as requested by the Market President and Relationship Managers to ensure adherence to the high customer service standards expected at American National Bank.
  13. Maintains a thorough knowledge of all American National Bank products, services, procedures, policies and appropriate regulatory issues relating to daily job functions including but not limited to: Bank Secrecy Act; Privacy; Fair Lending; Regulation E; deposit, transaction and loan accounts.
  14. Normal office working environment with moderate noise level.
  15. Must be able to drive and possess a current driver’s license.
  16. Customer confidentiality: Never reveal or divulge customer information to anyone outside the Bank.
  17. Perform other duties as assigned.

REQUIRED SKILLS

  2. Strong verbal and written communication skills

  5. Excellent customer services skills a must
  6. Knowledge of loan policies and regulations essential
  7. Must be proficient with computers in general, including Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  1. Associates Degree or equivalent related experience required
  2. Two or more years previous experience as a Paralegal, Lending Assistant, Loan Operations/Documentation Specialist or equivalent related experience required
  3. Notary public certification or ability to obtain notary public certification required
  4. Previous experience with lending compliance and banking regulations required
  5. LaserPro and other banking software experience preferred
  6. Current NMLS SAFE Act Registration or the ability to be registered within 30 days required
