Capacity Strengthening Manager – Nepal

Background

SoCha is preparing for an upcoming competitive procurement to be issued by USAID/Nepal called the USAID Localization Support Activity. The purpose of the initiative is to provide services to USAID, partner Nepali organizations, and Government of Nepal entities to provide surge support, build capacity, and establish systems and processes localize development programs. The successful implementer will provide support in three overarching areas:

1. Capacity strengthening for local actors to apply, receive and manage USAID awards.
2. Strengthening the Mission’s government-to-government (G2G) programming; and
3. Supporting the Mission to improve localization programming.

SoCha is looking for a qualified Capacity Strengthening Manager to help achieve “capacity strengthening for Local Actors to apply, receive and manage USAID awards.” The purpose of this overarching area is to ensure that local organizations are prepared to work with USAID, are capable of meeting USAID requirements, and develop the long-term capacity to contribute to Nepal’s development beyond a single USAID award.

Responsibilities

The Capacity Strengthening Manager will support the Localization Objective of the Activity providing competency building interventions to local organizations including NGOs, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), national and regional federations, the private sector, non-government education institutions, and others as identified by USAID during the Contract.

The Capacity Strengthening Manager will:

• Prepare local organizations to work with USAID by creating webinars and resources in Nepali.
• Organizing and convening events in various provinces to raise awareness on working with USAID.
• Alerting local organizations to funding opportunities and conducting proposal development training.
• Developing organizational performance monitoring and management systems.
• Improving award management for existing local partners that work with USAID.
• Providing monitoring, evaluation, and learning support, including running a learning platform for local organizations.
• Supporting training events and communications initiatives with logistics, planning, and facilitation services.
• Strengthening local organizations’ long-term capacity in business development, financial sustainability, resource mobilization, marketing, and advocacy.

Minimum qualifications and experience

• Six (6) or more years of experience helping local organizations expand their operations and effectiveness to work with international donors or governments effectively.
• Master’s degree or higher.
• Experience working on “capacity building” or “capacity strengthening” initiatives.
• Experience developing and delivering training courses.
• Experience with business outreach and relationship building.
• Experience with Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning (MEL) preferred.
• Experience with USAID preferred.
• Experience working in Nepal is highly desirable.
