Organizational Context

The Private Sector Partnerships Service (PSP) sits within UNHCR’s Division of External Relations (DER) and is responsible for mobilizing resources from the private sector for refugees. UNHCR have developed a $1 Billion Private Sector Fundraising Strategy 2018-2025. This strategy focuses on both Individual Giving and Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH) and identifies priority fundraising markets and regions.

UNHCR is rolling out a Digital Strategy a key objective of which is to increase traffic, engagement, private sector donations, and supporters from its global web and social media presence. Strong search strategy and implementation is a critical pillar of this work (both paid and earned) alongside deep understanding of paid digital marketing techniques.

The position

This role will operate within the Digital Marketing, Data, and Analysis Team (DMDA) which is part of the Supporter Engagement Section (SES), which sits in the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP).

The Associate Global Digital Marketing Officer (Paid Social/Display) will work with key stakeholders at HQ, national fundraising markets, and wider across the organization to develop and implement SEM optimization and other digital marketing activities.

Duties and responsibilities

The incumbent will assist on the following:

  • Day-to- setup and management of global in-house Paid social (Facebook ads, Twitter ads, LinkedIn ads, TikTok ads etc) and Video and Display / programmatic accounts (DV360, GDN) in multiple languages, continuous optimisation towards strict ROI goals for multiple markets including the International English digital hub
  • Building UNHCR Paid social and display & video strategies and spotting opportunities for meaningful growth within the organization
  • Quick implementation of efficient digital campaigns in the event of UNHCR declaring an emergency for fundraising purposes,
  • Review, preparation and adjustment of creative assets, including images, videos and copies, for digital ads in close collaboration with other teams, with a focus on driving conversions; ownership of content calendar
  • Audience research, analysis of user behaviour and overall digital performance using Google Analytics, Campaign manager and 3rd party tools to determine the most effective approach to define and reach our target audience
  • Running regular A/B Tests on creative assets, audiences, landing pages, placements, bidding strategies and other optimisation tactics on digital platforms, analysing and actioning results and learnings
  • Close control of daily and monthly budgets, and post-campaign financial reconciliation with internal admin and finance teams to ensure timely payments to suppliers Collaboration with other DES teams to shape digital campaigns based on opportunities uncovered through data analysis
  • Acting as a main point of contact within the DES team for all enquiries and support on Paid social / Display programmatic and Video enquires, working with internal teams and global offices to offer advice, capacity building trainings and to ensure best practices and techniques are properly implemented
  • Regular audits of paid social, display / programmatic and video accounts, managed by agencies, across wider UNHCR network to identify opportunities for optimization
  • Regular training regional digital marketing teams on digital marketing tools and optimisation strategies to ensure improvements in performance
  • Support in developing a full-funnel remarketing strategy for donor retention
  • Trafficking campaigns via Campaign manager for tracking purposes
  • Active participation in forecasting, reporting, dashboard building, attribution-modelling and other projects within DES
  • Supporting other team members in running digital campaigns, including Paid search when needed, with strict ROI goals
  • Work with third-party partners and agencies to implement new digital marketing solutions
  • Perform other duties, as required.

Essential minimum qualifications and professional experience required

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:

Education:

  • University degree (BA) -preferably in Digital Marketing, Data Analysis or Business Qualifications

Work Experience

  • Minimum 3 years relevant experience with Undergraduate degree; or 2 years relevant experience with Graduate degree. Agency and international experience. (required)
  • Hands-on, demonstratable experience in managing paid media campaigns across main digital channels: Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, TikTok, GDN, DV360 etc., with proven certifications from key platforms (required)
  • Proven experience in managing programmatic display campaigns on 3rd party platforms(required)
  • Experience in managing conversion campaigns, lead generation ads and awareness activities (required)
  • Experience within advertising operations with working knowledge of tag creation and trafficking via Campaign manager and Google marketing platform. (required)
  • Proven track record of optimizing large and small ad network budgets (required)
  • Ability to analyse large data sets, pull meaningful insights and make recommendations, using analytics tools including Google Analytics as well as 3rd party tools (required)
  • Previous experience with content management and copy writing (required)
  • Experience of setting up A/B and multivariate testing (required)
  • Solid understanding of direct-response performance marketing, conversion journeys, online acquisition and remarketing audiences (required)
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (required)
  • Experience with 3rd party digital ad tech such as ad servers, site side analytics, DMPs, PMDs and/or multi-touch attribution (required)
  • Knowledge of Google Tag manager (desirable)
  • Understanding of agile principles and tools – Trello / JIRA or similar (desirable)
  • Project management experience including planning and schedule creation for digital marketing campaigns (desirable)

Key Competencies

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel advanced features to analyse large sets of data and make meaningful recommendations and identify actionable opportunities (required)
  • Advanced understanding of digital marketing KPl’s and ways to calculate them (required)

Location and Conditions

The successful candidate can be based in UN City in Copenhagen, Denmark. There is also the possibility for the incumbent to be home-based.

This position is initially up to the end of the year with possibility of extension. It is a full-time role starting from 8.30am to 5pm Monday to Friday (40 hours per week).
