About the role

We are currently looking for an Advocacy and Campaigns Advisor to join our team. As the Advocacy and Campaigns Advisor, you will generally be deployed to provide technical expertise to support country, regional and member offices in the development and implementation of high-quality advocacy strategies that will engage with the public and partners, to influence government and other institutional policies and practice to achieve positive and lasting changes to fulfil children’s rights while working closely with technical and operations colleagues in country offices, building their advocacy capacity and building ownership and agency of local organisations.

You will bring to the role experience in delivering high quality programmes and technical support across multiple countries in advocacy and campaign work including policy development and the ability to link programmes with advocacy work and developing and implementing advocacy strategies while working with other NGOs and coordinating inter-agency advocacy activities, strategies and products. You will demonstrate an ability of strong communication (written and spoken), and interpersonal skills in English, and strong leadership skills with an ability to seek people’s views while also taking responsibility to determine the most appropriate course of action and to act decisively.

Proficiency in English and working knowledge of a second language – French, Spanish, or Arabic (with French and Spanish especially desirable) is a must.

The Global Expertise and Humanitarian Surge Platform (GEHSP) is Save the Children’s global humanitarian surge, technical expertise and new business development deployment management function, operating on behalf of both members and SCI. It is dedicated to identifying, developing and deploying skilled and experienced talent from across the movement to meet the needs of our domestic and international programmes and humanitarian responses. Our vision is to help improve the quality, timeliness, and effectiveness of our humanitarian responses and programmes; directly contributing to Save the Children’s capability to deliver the best outcomes for children and their families.

Roving Technical Experts

Roving Technical Expert (TE) roles will be rapidly deployed by the GEHSP across the movement to cover critical technical gaps and deliver technical excellence to drive impact for children. They will provide dedicated support that is available to deploy regularly and flexibly depending on the requests received on the GEHSP. The main responsibilities of this post will vary according to the terms of reference for each assignment.
