Summary

Save the Children seeks a Youth Engagement Coordinator for the five-year USAID/Cambodia Advancing Youth Leadership Activity. The anticipated program will enhance the capacity and leadership of youth, especially those from marginalized groups such as indigenous populations and LGBTQI+, to engage in the political process, to address local development issues and to increase civic participation.

The Youth Engagement Coordinator will serve as a primary point of contact for the oversight and implementation of projects under this activity focused on youth leadership and civic engagement. They will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with civil society organizations and other entities to ensure overall success of the activity.

This position is contingent upon donor approval and funding.

What You’ll Be Doing (Essential Duties)

  • Oversee, implement, and coordinate a variety of programs and activities in relation to the leadership program and youth civic engagement.
  • Manage planning, outreach, data collection, and coordination with youth, civil society organizations and the private sector.
  • Develop, manage and maintain strong working relationships with a broad range of stakeholders to promote their active engagement with youth, youth-led and youth-serving organizations, civil society organizations, and other entities as applicable.
  • Provide administrative oversight as well as logistical and coordination support to ensure the success of programs designed to inspire, mobilize and engage youth to improve and create positive community development.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor or graduate degree in international development, social science, business, law, human rights, communications or related field.
  • At least seven years of demonstrated experience coordinating large and complex or international programs in one or more of the following areas: soft skill or skill development, youth empowerment, civil society, and civic education.
  • Demonstrated experience in capacity building initiatives for youth and community groups and in community mobilization, coordination and facilitation.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and manage civic engagement-focused grants.
  • Knowledge and experience in gender and social inclusion.
  • Good understanding of youth networks and civil society organizations in Cambodia and its development context.
  • Solid communication, interpersonal, negotiation, and relationship management skills and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining relationships and networks with individuals, communities, development partners and other relevant stakeholders.
