Job Description:

Are you a purpose-driven student focused on writing, marketing, or business? Transamerica is looking for a Writing/Social Media Intern to join our Creative Services team for a summer 2023 internship.

At Transamerica, we help our customers achieve a lifetime of financial security by providing the guidance, knowledge, and solutions to set them on the right path. As a Writing/Social Media Intern, you’ll learn the ins and outs of our company, receive personal guidance on what it takes to be a successful writer/social media professional in marketing, and help the team create high-impact pieces/posts that resonate with clients and drive action.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Individual Solutions side of business by helping with marketing campaigns and collateral creation, including flyers, social media, signage, webpages, sales emails, etc.
  • Create engaging social media posts to market to our agents and financial professionals on LinkedIn, Facebook, and Instagram
  • Learn about and assist in conceiving and executing campaign social media strategy
  • Maintain Transamerica brand consistency throughout work to ensure corporate guidelines are met
  • Assist the creative services team with creating, editing, and quality checking content
  • Other duties as assigned based on needs

Learning Outcomes:

  • Learn about financial services and the insurance industry
  • Gain a deep understanding of writing in a brand voice
  • Develop knowledge in creating effective copy and social media posts for different mediums and audiences
  • Grasp the importance of adhering to a style guide

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in marketing, journalism, English, communications, public relations, or a related degree at an accredited college or university. Internships are not available for students who have completed their college education or who will graduate prior to the conclusion of the internship (unless immediately continuing their studies)
  • Excellent writing and editing skills; knowledge of AP Style is desired
  • Open to constructive critiques and having their work edited
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn is required
  • Amazing attention to detail and passionate about the nuances of writing
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently, take direction, and collaborate with cross-functional teams

Working Environment/Program Dates:

  • Hybrid work environment out of our Denver, CO office; will work 1-2 days in office per week
  • Candidates must be able to work ~40 hours/week during the 12 week internship program (mid-May to mid-August)
  • Work outside of normal business hours may be required

  • Please note that the compensation information that follows is a good faith estimate for this position only and is provided pursuant to the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act and Equal Pay Transparency Rules and other compensation posting laws. It is estimated based on what a successful candidate might be paid in certain Company locations.**

The hourly rate for this position generally ranges between $18.00-$20.00 an hour. This range is an estimate, based on potential qualifications and operational needs. The range may vary above and below the stated amounts, as permitted by Colorado Equal Pay Transparency Rule 4.1.2 and other applicable local regulations.
