Here at Human Appeal, we have an exciting opportunity for a Waqf Manager to join our team on a full-time basis based in Cheadle, Greater Manchester, as part of an initial 1-year fixed term contract with a view to progressing into a permanent role. In return, you will receive a competitive salary of £50k per annum.

Human Appeal is a faith-based charity that aims to abolish poverty by providing humanitarian aid, sustainable development programs and championing advocacy for our beneficiaries worldwide.

As a Waqf Manager, the successful candidate will play an integral role in financially, administratively, and technically managing all Waqf-related operations at Human Appeal. The Waqf Manager will be responsible for carrying out investment projects in line with the purposes of Islamic Sharia legal and economic controls. The Waqf Manager will aim to achieve the financial stability of the foundation and implement charitable projects for the sustainable development of beneficiary groups around the world. All with a view to ensuring that Human Appeal’s objectives are achieved for raising funds for Waqf, managing risk and returns while raising awareness of the importance of Waqf.We are ideally looking to appoint somebody immediately to this role.

Key duties and responsibilities of the Waqf Manager:

  • Create a comprehensive, strategic plan for Waqf for the next 5 years
  • Supervise the Waqf fundraising process
  • Prepare the feasibility studies for the investment projects inside and outside the UK and present to the Waqf Board of Trustees to get their approval before implementing.
  • Completely and all-inclusively supervise the implementation of the investment projects and deliver their reports to the Board of Trustees

What we’re looking for in our Waqf Manager:

  • Essential: Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Economics or Islamic Studies
  • Desirable: Master’s degrees in a relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in the investment sector, preferably in the field of Waqf investment
  • Knowledgeable of, with academic experience in, investments and evaluation of feasibility studies
  • MS Office Suite
  • Fluent written and spoken English is essential. Knowledge of Arabic as a second language is preferred
