Job Overview:

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) helps people affected by humanitarian crises – including the climate crisis – to survive, recover, and rebuild their lives. This fully remote position will support Resettlement, Asylum, and Integration (RAI) in the United States comprised of 28 dynamic offices. RAI-US delivers lasting impact in refugee and immigrant communities by providing initial resettlement, mental health, employment, workforce development, English as a second language, and immigration services in addition to services for foreign-born survivors of crime and human-trafficking. Across program areas, volunteers provide critical support to clients, programs, and offices. Volunteer refers to anyone donating their time.

The Resource, Acquisition, and Management (RAM) team is based in RAI-HQ with the mandate to support RAI-US grants, development, and volunteer management staff. The Senior Development and Volunteer Operations Officer is the focal point for volunteer operations in RAI and will directly supervise the Volunteer Operations Manager, a newly created role to expand capacity. The Volunteer Operations Manager will work to enhance the quality and compliance of volunteer engagement and programming. The position will support enhancing volunteer engagement through service hour tracking using Salesforce, structure new systems to expand diverse & skilled volunteer engagement, and assess volunteer programming across RAI to learn and leverage our network’s learnings and best practices. The Volunteer Operations Manager will focus on supporting programs to develop engaging volunteer opportunities alongside building out systems and resources to support volunteer engagement and integration into Salesforce for hour tracking and reporting.

Major Responsibilities:

Enhancing volunteer engagement

  • Develop and disseminate volunteer facing resources and presentations to enhance volunteer engagement and hour tracking across RAI’s 28 offices
  • Troubleshoot and develop solutions to address issues with volunteers integrating into Salesforce to log their service hours (e.g. office hours)

Assessing volunteer programming

  • Evaluate volunteer programming across 28 offices and develop procedure for ongoing monitoring
  • Compile and maintain relevant information on RAI volunteer programming to support compliance, safeguarding, and quality engagement
  • Inventory volunteer service opportunities by program area and collaborate with HQ program staff to support their program areas to more effectively leverage community support
  • Coordinate quarterly RAI successful model session for the network to uplift promising practices

Structuring systems to expand diverse & skilled engagement

  • Coordinate the Pathways to Careers in RAI scholarship with Scholarship America when funding is available
  • Build IRC’s MSW field placement guidance and structures to increase RAI’s capacity to engage
  • Liaise university contracts with the Office of General Council
  • Establish updated guidance on contractual processes with university masters-level practicums
  • Other duties as needed

Job Requirements:

Preferred experience & skills:

  • MSWs or experience working with MSW field placements

  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with a proven ability to prioritize and advocate
  • Strong analytic problem-solving skills alongside innovation and flexibility
  • Ability to work both independently and in a dynamic, cross-functional national team structure
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and Box with a proactive orientation to learn and leverage databases, technology, and project management tools
  • Experience with Salesforce highly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to manage and work through change in a proactive and positive manner

Working Environment***:***

  • Fully remote, occasional travel within the United States possible when funding is available
  • Applicants must have a home or alternate workspace they can effectively complete their work from during regularly scheduled work hours (any time zone in the U.S.)
  • If applicants are located in NYC, hybrid work is available with workspace at HQ

Compensation: Posted pay ranges apply to US-based candidates. Ranges are based on various factors including the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
