Job Description

Join the American Red Cross! This position will support the mission of the Red Cross by producing, shooting and editing videos and still photos, as well as cataloguing content, helping to manage production schedules and budgets (both project budgets and departmental), and deploying to capture content.

Preferred location for the position is in the Washington, DC area, however we are open to candidates working remotely from other parts of the country.

For those candidates located in Colorado, the salary range for this position is: $ 75,300 – 100,400

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of produced videos, b-roll packages and still photos.
  • Manage video and photo shoots nationwide, including hiring freelancers, creating budgets, scheduling, liaising with the local teams, writing interview questions and gathering releases.
  • Edit videos to help tell the Red Cross story and b-roll packages for use by outside video producers and news media.
  • Shoot and edit still photos, including selecting the best shots and color correcting the images.
  • Coordinate delivery of video files and still photos.
  • Assist in organizing and managing video and photo libraries, as well as media on the video server.
  • Collaborate with external and internal stakeholders, including all five lines of service and departments such as Fundraising, Marketing and Government Relations, to develop videos that meet their needs.
  • Develop and implement the strategic plans for videos across every department and line of service.
  • Collaborate with the social engagement team to create videos and photos optimized for social media audiences.
  • Post videos on Vimeo and YouTube, and create custom thumbnails and captions.
  • Ensure videos are accessible with on-screen captions for deaf or hard-of-hearing individuals and oversee caption translation processes as appropriate.
  • Train local and regional Red Cross communications staff in video production and creation of photo content.
  • Shoot broadcast quality interviews, direct-to-camera videos and b-roll.
  • Help organize video and photography equipment and manage equipment loans.
  • Create video graphics using Red Cross video templates.
  • Review videos from other departments, outside video producers and Red Cross regions for production values, accuracy, safety protocols, legal requirements and brand standards.
  • Support crisis communications efforts to tell the Red Cross story and maintain trust in the organization, and serve as a force-multiplier during largescale disasters or other critical efforts.

Qualified candidates must be authorized to work in the United States. The American Red Cross does not sponsor employment visas.

Qualifications

  • Applicant must possess a four-year college degree (or equivalent experience) and have 4-6 years of experience in video production and still photography.
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, especially Adobe Premiere, is a must.
  • Experience shooting high quality videos and still photos using professional cameras, lighting and audio equipment.
  • Experience tailoring content to specific platforms and audiences, particularly on social media.
  • The ideal candidate must be a strategic thinker and planner, have a keen attention to detail, superior multi-tasking abilities, strong organization and problem-solving skills, demonstrated ability to manage projects from start to end, and experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Candidates must have the ability to collaborate with people at all levels of a large, complex organization. Ability to work in high-pressure situations is essential.
  • This position sometimes requires irregular or extended hours, including weekends, evenings, and travel, as needed.
