Summary
The VP, HR Process Optimization reports directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer and is a member of the HR leadership team. The appointed individual is responsible for leading the identification, prioritization, and completion of system-wide project optimization initiatives across the HR function. Works collaboratively with leaders, stakeholders, and employees within and outside of HR to identify and develop initiatives, analyses, services and projects that drive measurable and sustainable outcomes. Assures a consistent, function-wide approach to process optimization and project management by providing cross functional guidance in developing and implementing standards for monitoring, tracking and reporting the status of high priority and strategic projects. Recommends appropriate courses of action, strategies and/or alternatives in order to meet organizational needs, while working to meet and exceed customer needs focused on managers and employees. Scope of responsibility includes leadership of all aspects of process optimization including providing subject matter expertise with Six Sigma, Lean, Agile, and other continuous optimization methodologies. Leads the delivery of exceptional services from key process stakeholders including HR Information Systems, HR Governance, and HR Metrics and Analytics. This leader serves as a role model for the Health System’s mission and values and is a highly sought-after subject matter leader.
Key Responsibilities

  • Leads a team of HRIS, HR Governance, and Metrics & Analysis resources in the delivery of exceptional processes, programs, policies, and tools in alignment with customer-centered design and a service focus.
  • Represents the HR function in cross-functional projects impacting multiple organizational areas and provides project leadership as needed.
  • Oversees and significantly contributes to all projects, working with the Process Optimization team to ensure successful design and delivery, mitigate risks, triage issues, and generally problem solve.
  • Hire, manage, recruit, coach, and mentor a team of talented Process Optimization professionals.
  • Assess current processes and identifies opportunities to optimize and standardize, and prioritizes efforts based on organizational strategic focus, data analysis, regulatory requirements, risk mitigation, and available resources.
  • Educates, empowers and inspires HR employees to actively engage in improving their own processes and participating in initiatives across the function. Serves as a strong change advocate and role model for effective change management.
  • Expands knowledge and capability within the HR function of continuous improvement methodologies and analytics such as Six Sigma, Lean, Agile, and Total Quality Management including Workout and Kaizen tools. Instructs and mentors cross-disciplinary teams in adapting to and understanding improvement processes, facilitating Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen, Workout, and Rapid Improvement Events (RIEs),and overseeing process improvement projects.
  • Actively participates in the analysis, planning, design, implementation and evaluation of key projects to in support of Nuvance Health’s short-term priorities and long-term strategies. Designs and train teams on utilization of project management disciplines, tools and techniques. Develops and delivers standardized project charters and project plans, ensuring measurable and successful outcomes.
  • Implements and sustains a repeatable, reliable, and sustainable approach to process optimization. Ensures robust process documentation, training guides, and communication of process changes in accordance with organizational change management (OCM) principles.
  • Partners with Information Technology leadership to leverage HR systems and other technologies to deliver a robust reporting platform for organizational data. Delivers a dynamic dashboard for managers that provides critical “Voice of Employee” and workflow information, and an HR dashboard providing tracking of critical KPIs.
  • Advocates for HR and other resources needed in order to accomplish objectives within aggressive timelines.
  • Builds and fosters relationships across the organization to promote and encourage partnerships to understand the organizational challenges and collaboratively solve problems.
  • Responsible for maintaining contemporary professional education, personal and professional development to ensure current knowledge in the profession/position.

Education
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree in Business or Human Resources is required.
Experience

  • 15+ years of prior program leadership of large-scale business optimization efforts and continuous improvement with measurable outcomes, with at least 8 years as an Executive leader delivering successful cross-functional programs/projects.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification required.
  • Significant experience working in an HR organization or working on HR projects preferred.
  • Proven ability to lead and align an organization with diverse technical disciplines and enterprise-wide reach.
  • A strong team player who supports their team and embraces ownership, accountability, and responsibility for the team’s work.
  • Additional certifications strongly preferred: Agile Methodology Certification (i.e. CSM, PMI – ACP),Lean Six Sigma Master Black Belt, Lean Leadership/Practitioner, Project Management Institute Project Management Professional (PMP)
