Tasks

Position Objective

We are looking for a talented User Experience Research Intern to join the Porsche Digital product development team at our office in Atlanta, GA, where the team develops and launches world-class consumer-facing applications and services. As a UX Research Intern, you will be an integral part of the development team and will help shape the digital future of Porsche. We are looking for someone who is passionate about user-centered design, research principles & methods and has foundational experience in leveraging them to solve product questions and help businesses grow.

A UX Research Intern will have the opportunity to gain experience in working with product, business, design, and development teams in a global agile environment. They will contribute directly to developing, planning, executing, and analyzing a variety of mixed-methods user research studies and will gain experience in leveraging industry tools such as: Qualtrics, Respondent.io, FullStory, Dovetail, etc. This is a great opportunity to apply human-centered research methodologies in an environment where demand for, and impact of, UX Research is high.

The position is based in Atlanta, GA at the Porsche North American Business Headquarters and Experience Center. Porsche Digital Inc., will be utilizing a hybrid work model with in-office days and home-office days.

Education

Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Design, Human Factors, Human-Computer Interaction, Psychology, Social Sciences, or equivalent disciplines.

Experience

  • Some experience in conducting user research for evaluative components (examples include prototype/concept tests, remote and in-person usability tests, heuristic evaluations, etc.)
  • Some experience in conducting user research for explorative topics (examples include diary studies, 1:1 interviews, empathy mapping, journey mapping, etc.)
  • Knowledge of both qualitative and quantitative research tools as well as user-centered design methodologies.
  • Knowledge of digital whiteboarding tools (Miro, FigJam, Mural, etc.)

Qualifications

  • Qualified applicants must be able to start immediately and be available to work 40 hrs/ week.
  • Ability to empathize with customer needs and develop actionable insights
  • Strong visual design, storytelling, and presentation skills a plus
  • Foundational understanding and ability to assess the competitive landscape in an experience-first mindset
  • Comfortable with, or excited to learn about a variety of research methods: in-depth interviews, ethnographic/field research, surveys and more
  • Self-starter, highly organized and able to work at a fast-moving environment
  • Egoless, collaborative team player
  • Experience in ethnography or anthropology is helpful
  • Ability to work in a multicultural team, team-oriented working attitude
  • Strong customer service focus, strong communication skills
  • Ability to efficiently multi-task, with proficient organizational and time management skills, and an affinity for digital technologies

Responsibilities

  • Support end-to-end user research tasks from planning, design, reporting, and visualization for agile product teams.
  • Translate research findings into design artifacts, including personas, journey maps, mental models, service blueprints, and wireframes.
  • Collaborate closely with senior UX researchers to understand and contribute to the UX research practice.
  • Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and engineers to understand short-term & long-term product needs.
  • Identify key research questions and appropriate research methods for various business and product problems.
  • Support the design and facilitation of UX research using mixed methods, including but not limited to: ethnographies, surveys, heuristic walkthroughs, usability tests, concept and prototype evaluation, co-creation, and design workshops.
  • Deliver actionable insights and recommendations to cross-functional teams, including product teams, business leaders, and process owners to improve products and services.
  • Collaborate within multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Conduct secondary research to understand business needs and research opportunities.
  • Document and aggregate generative research findings and proactively contribute to a research repository.
