CALP Network

Background

The CALP Network is a dynamic global network of over 90 organisations engaged in the critical areas of policy, practice and research in humanitarian cash and voucher assistance (CVA) and financial assistance more broadly. Collectively, CALP members deliver the vast majority of humanitarian CVA worldwide. What makes the CALP Network unique is its diversity. CALP members currently include local and international non-governmental organisations, United Nations agencies, the Red Cross/Crescent Movement, donors, specialist social innovation, technology and financial services companies, researchers and academics, and individual practitioners. Together we seek to better meet the needs and improve the outcomes for people affected by crisis. To do this we ensure that CVA is a central, scalable component of quality, timely and appropriate humanitarian assistance, and that the need to sustain positive outcomes for people over the longer term is considered.

Context for the work

CALP has an e-learning course, CVA: The Fundamentals available on the Cash Learning Hub on Kaya as well as on other platforms. This is one of our flagship courses, it is the most popular e-learning CALP has on offer and it is a pre-requisite for several of our other courses. In 2022 the face to face Fundamentals course, on which the e-learning course is based, was updated, and CALP are looking to update the e-learning course to reflect those updates. The current e-learning course is made up of 7 SCORM packages, however this may look different in the updated course. The course is currently built in Elucidat, but CALP are hoping that the new version of the course will be built in Articulate Storyline/Rise 360 or similar software. The content will be updated based on both the existing Fundamentals e-learning and the newly updated face to face course. Some activities and content may stay the same with some simple updates to terminology, while some other sections or modules may require a full re-write based on the new F2F content.

Specific task(s) of the consultancy

This consultancy will work with CALP to develop updated storyboards and build the courses using both the current e-learning and the updated face to face materials as source material. The consultant will need to adhere to CALP’s principles of micro-learning and accessibility and inclusion where necessary (including alt-text on images and any other requirements for accessibility such as being compliant with screen-readers). CALP will provide access to the original SCORMs as needed. Updated SCORMs will need to be branded with CALP’s updated logo and colour scheme as per CALP’s current brand guidelines. CALP will source and share any relevant photos. SCORMs will need to be compliant with industry standards and compatible with any LMS. The scope of work for this project is only in English, though CALP would like consideration to be given to future translation of the courses in the course design and build.

Essential profile of the consultant

For this piece of work, CALP is looking for the following expertise:

• Substantial experience of technical building of e-learning courses and online learning • Knowledge of specific e-learning authoring tools (please specify which ones you have previously used in your application). Knowledge of Articulate authoring tool is desirable but not essential. • Storyboarding and Instructional Design expertise is highly desirable • Knowledge of Kaya and Totora/Moodle LMS’s is desirable • Proven track record in strong project management • Knowledge of Cash and Voucher Assistance is desirable
