World Vision

The escalation of conflict in Ukraine has forced more than 4 million people – mostly women and children – to flee to neighbouring countries. With the escalating crisis, the needs are growing by the hour. More than half of Ukraine’s children have either fled for safety within the country or are living as refugees.

Since the conflict started, our teams have been on the ground assessing and responding to the urgent needs of those searching for safety. We are working to support internally displaced people in Ukraine as well as refugees in Romania, Georgia and Moldova.

Here’s where you come in:

As the Ukraine Crisis Response Director, you will lead World Vision’s multi-country humanitarian response to the crisis in Ukraine ensuring effective scale up and delivery of humanitarian assistance to affected vulnerable people in Ukraine, Romania, Moldova, Georgia and other countries as required. You will oversee all aspects of the response from strategy to implementation including team management, partner relations, risk management and relations with a wider range of local and international stakeholders for this large scale response expected to exceed $100 million in a complex, fluid and challenging humanitarian context with a high level of global interest and engagement.

We are looking for a senior, experienced humanitarian leader with a strong track record in complex crises and fragile contexts, and excellent team leadership, communications, risk and relationship management skills.

Requirements include:

  • University degree in humanitarian, development, international relations or relevant field. Master’s degree preferred
  • A minimum of 5-7 years in leadership roles in the humanitarian and development sector, including in major INGOs
  • At least 5 years’ senior management experience in humanitarian responses within complex, fragile and conflict related contexts
  • Excellent communications and relationship management skills
  • Demonstrated understanding of humanitarian principles, standards and best practices.

  • Effective in written and verbal communication in English
