Our ideal candidate enjoys working in a dynamic start-up-like environment and has a minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in a Treasury and trading setting, including hands-on experience with cash management, money markets and FX trading.

In this role you report to Chief of Staff in the IO and a dotted line to the Director of Finance in Constanter Philanthropy Services (CPS).

Job Description

As a Treasurer you are responsible for managing the entire cash management function including planning and execution of day-to-day and period-end, trading and financing functions related to the Investment Office investment portfolios which include external fund/mandate, direct private asset and direct public market (for hedging and opportunistic macro) activities.

The role’s responsibilities include all aspects of cash management including planning and execution of day-to-day transactions, the development of long-term financing plans, and the framework and policies these will operate under. Establishes, manages and monitors a group wide cash pooling. The Treasurer also makes investments on the investment entities’ behalf, developing bank and financial institution relationships, including dealing lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop framework for, oversee and enhance treasury functions (i.e. manage cash flows) including liquidity modelling and management. Sets-up a centralized cash pool structure including establishing banking, dealing and financing lines required. Executes the daily cash management, FX exposure management, investment of surplus cash, subscription/redemption management, payment monitoring and release, bank balance monitoring and reporting.
  • Develop strategy for trading for public markets beta, FX and hedging strategies including establishing trading relationships, building approaches and tools for best execution and related quantitative work. Draft framework and policies along with Risk Management to govern these activities. Manage day-to-day execution of trades for each including best implementation and execution practices. Monitor and manage counterparties’ against limits and guidelines and for performance against targets.
  • Develop framework and strategy for portfolio level leverage, borrowing and securities lending/borrowing including lines of credit, portfolio margining and derivatives implementation (futures, swaps). Establish multiple counterparty relationships to facilitate these. Day-to-day execution of financing requirements. Monitoring and management of daily derivatives margining requirements.
  • Research, recommend and implement beta replacement strategies facilitating liquidity, greater cash efficiency and leverage for the investment portfolios. Execute trades to implement these strategies.
  • Manage passive fixed income portfolio across multiple currencies. Credit and structured products experience is a plus in this dimension.
  • Establish, along with Risk Management, counterparty limits and KPIs.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Economics, Finance, Natural Sciences and related fields.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ professional experience in a Treasury and trading setting, including hands-on experience with cash management, money markets and FX trading.
  • Knowledge about investing in a multi-asset class setting is a plus as is derivatives trading experience.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated intellectual and analytical rigor Financial modelling skills.
  • Ability to adapt to a dynamic, complex environment.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Ability to build effective relationships based on trust, integrity, consistency, and pragmatism.
  • Strong attention to details.
