Job Summary:

The primary aim of the position is to prepare, deliver, and evaluate high quality trainings and to support the Training Manager, line manager, in the evolution of current courses. The Training Officer will deliver trainings, remotely and face-to-face, manager live practical scenarios, and incorporate lessons learned into future course iterations. The Training Officer will also provide support in the preparation of administration, course reports, financial management and statistical reports for the for the benefit of INSO Iraq Donors and NGO beneficiaries.

Our ideal candidate will be highly organized, have experience in leading trainings or workshops, possess strong oral and written communication skills, be willing to work collaboratively alone or with the team, flexible, and have experience working in a multi-cultural environment. The candidate should have an interest in the work of INSO, be knowledgeable about the Iraq context, and have a passion for capacity building of NGOs.

This position is based in Erbil with frequent travel to key locations across other locations in Iraq. The selected candidate must adhere to all safety precautions and contribute to the safety of the team.

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

Hierarchy

Reports to the Training Manager (Line Manager).

Major Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Training Manager, other Training Officer, and Training Assistant in the planning, budgeting, logistics and administration of the training programme.
  • Interface directly with internal support staff and stakeholders on all matters related to administration, logistics, finance, and procurement for training events.
  • Participate proactively in the development and delivery of the INSO Iraq strategy.
  • Deliver training, face-to-face and remotely over Microsoft Teams, alone or with another team member.
  • Translate training materials into Kurdish (and Arabic as applicable).
  • Work with the training team to assess monitoring and evaluation outcomes and further develop course design to incorporate lessons learned and feedback.
  • Support the other Training Officer and Training Assistant in training logistics and preparing training schedules.
  • Produce training presentations, facilitator notes, and training aids, along with training notes and materials for institutional memory.
  • Support in assessing partners’ training needs.
  • With the support of the Training Manager, develop mission plans for travel to trainings in the field.
  • Work closely with INSO Iraq colleagues in the administration of procurement issues, finance, travel, and accommodation booking for missions to the field.

Mandatory Requirements:

  • Post-Secondary diploma in relevant field
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in an NGO in the fields of education or safety and security
  • Minimum two years’ experience working as a trainer/teacher of adults
  • Proven presentation and facilitator skills using adult learning methodologies.
  • Efficient use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Power Point); Microsoft Teams knowledge is preferable.
  • Excellent working knowledge of English and Kurdish (spoken and written); Additional Arabic knowledge is preferable.
  • Demonstrable experience in administration, logistics, budgeting, and procurement
  • Exceptional organisational and time management skills; able to work independently.
  • Willingness to learn and ability to work in a fast paced and multi-cultural team to deliver tangible results on a deadline.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact with different kinds of stakeholders.

Preferred Characteristics:

  • Familiarity with the philosophy, priorities, and principles of humanitarian NGOs and NGO approaches to security. Field experience a plus.
  • Team player.
  • An effective communicator.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible and proactive.

How To Apply

Terms and Conditions:

12-month contract based in Erbil, Iraq with expected start date of 17 April 2022, 20 days annual leave a year. Annual salary increment added according to INSO Salary Scale 2022 – Salary grade 6 (Six). Health insurance is included in the salary package.

The salary is taxable according to Iraqi laws.
