ActionAid is an international anti-poverty agency working in over 45 countries, taking sides with poor people to end poverty together. ActionAid Myanmar’s approach is building capacity among youth and supporting them to work for the community for short- and long-term development for their own community. One of its main programs is participatory community development (includes livelihood, health, education, women’s rights, DRR etc.); through fellowship for young people to promote development in Myanmar. ActionAid Myanmar has been working in partnership with Government, the local and national NGOs in different states and divisions.

ActionAid Myanmar is looking for qualified candidate to fill the following position:

Position Title : Training Officer (GAC)

Requirement : 1 post

Location : Yangon

Duration : 12 months

Compensation : Basic pay starting from 618 USD per month (Salary will be paid in MMK with monthly central bank exchange rate) + other Benefits

Role Overview : The project seeks to train and support grassroots leaders with a focus on youth, women and community led CSOs on non-violence community mobilization towards a) facilitating and accessing basic services; b) enhancing community cohesion and resilience to better respond to shocks and stresses; c) increasing capability to connect and communicate local issues at different levels. The role of Training officer is key to work with these communities to assess their capacities, identifying their training needs, and work with resource person/team on designing and delivering quality training programs.

Training Officer shall closely work with the Project Manager and Project Coordinator to meet the training needs of the project targeted stakeholders.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Developing and Delivering Training Programs

  • Be responsible for developing annual training calendar for the identified project training needs.
  • Assess the training needs of project targeted stakeholders (youth and women grassroot leaders and community-based organizations) and design training programmes to meet these needs
  • Coordinate with the relevant consultants, resource person/team for a various training curriculum development and for timely delivery of the trainings. This includes ensuring involvement of relevant stakeholders, such as relevant colleagues within AAM including senior management and extended management team members; National Youth Resource Centre (NYRC); partner organizations and other national and local organizations to support the contextualization, development and design of trainings, and recruitment of training participants, and organizing training programmes in consultation and coordination with partners, and targeted training attendees.
  • Process internally within AAM to make sure all the training contents and process adhere to ActionAid’s Human-Rights Based Approach (HRBA) and feminist principles. Training programmes should be designed to maximise participatory learning and in local languages.
  • Facilitate and assist the project manager and coordinator for the development of new training modules, knowledge products and contextualizing existing training modules as per the needs identified

Thematic Program Engagement

  • Engage and be update with AAM’s program and projects, hence effectively contribute to planning and implementation of different projects/programs
  • Coordinate with different thematic programs and youth organizations, Fellows to deliver the best training exposure.
  • Delivering progressive and inspiring youth and fellow training activities around key thematic areas in line with AAM Country strategy.

Training Budget and Utilization

  • Prepare in advance training program budgets as per the Plan and Budget of GAC project and facilitate with finance to close training expenditures of time.
  • Prepare the training budget, utilize and report timely of the training programs and their activities.
  • Contribute to the development of annual plan and budget of the trainings under the project
  • Prepare monthly plans and forecast of expenditures for organizing trainings
  • Coordinate with AAM admin, logistic and procurement teams on ensuring needed training materials are provided in line with AAM financial and procurement policies.

Digitalization of Training Manuals and Digital Presence

  • Coordinate and support the Project Manager on digitalisation of suitable training curriculums.
  • Coordinate and take the lead on hosting online training programmes for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate for third parties and other agencies involved in online trainings for certification of the courses offered under the project.

Others

  • Be responsible to adhere/ comply with approved organizational policies and procedures
  • Perform relevant tasks assigned by line manager upon the needs of the organization and its operational context Any tasks as assigned by line manager

Education & Certifications

  • Holds Bachelor degree, Master degree is preferable but not compulsory

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years’ experience working in development field and knowledge of development and social change.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience specifically in designing, organizing, facilitating trainings, workshops, and capacity development programs
  • Demonstrated experience of training community members, youth in Myanmar
  • Ability to work with a team and to take initiative

Language Proficiency

  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Myanmar

Competency Required

  • Should be a good team player
  • Gender sensitive
  • Having conviction and skills for the empowerment of the poor and disadvantage groups
  • Proficiency in computer and using sofeware
  • Good writing and analytical skills

Personality Trait

  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
