ActionAid is an international anti-poverty agency working in over 45 countries, taking sides with poor people to end poverty together. ActionAid Myanmar’s approach is building capacity among youth and supporting them to work for the community for short- and long-term development for their own community. One of its main programs is participatory community development (includes livelihood, health, education, women’s rights, DRR etc.); through fellowship for young people to promote development in Myanmar. ActionAid Myanmar has been working in partnership with Government, the local and national NGOs in different states and divisions.

ActionAid Myanmar is looking for qualified candidate to fill the following position:

Position Title : Project Coordinator (GAC)

Requirement : 1 post

Location : Yangon

Duration : 12 months

Compensation : Basic pay starting from 884 USD per month (Salary will be paid in MMK with monthly central bank exchange rate) + other Benefits

Role Overview : Project Coordinator supports the Project Manager, training officer , finance manager and other team members in ensuring that the programme activities are implemented as per the action plan developed, coordinate with partners and key stakeholders related to programme documentation and expenditure booking.

He/she is primarily responsible for day-to-day implementation and providing support towards overall program management, networking, taking initiatives of the project activities in liaising with the partners and ensures effective coordination with team members in delivering the project activities.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities

Operational Responsibilities

  • Develop the workplans of quarterly and detail monthly for the project implementation including for budget forecasting that required monthly for rolling three-months expenditure forecasting.
  • Together with Project Manager, represents the project and ActionAid Myanmar at relevant forums, workshops and trainings.
  • Oversee the project activities implementation, project financial expenditures, coordinate the activities of the program with the stakeholders and partners participating in the project.
  • Maintain and provide monthly project data and activity reports to MEAL team of AAM being sign-off by the Project Manager.
  • Support implementation of project activities in line with the operational project plans and monitoring framework
  • Guide and support partners and field teams to implement project activities according to the operational plans and timelines and conform the reporting and monitoring guidelines in cooperation with the designated PQR/M&E staff of the project or PQR Manager.

Networking and Coordination

  • Actively participate in and coordinate with other AAM projects and programs.
  • Coordinate with different support functions units of AAM to ensure effective management of the project and deliverables
  • Coordinate and work closely with different teams of ActionAid Myanmar and project partners in different states and regions for the planning and implementation of the designated project interconnecting with other governance project/programme activities.
  • Maintain the quality relationship with the partners and stakeholders. Also identify the potential like-minded partners and connect for broader alliance and solidary network.

Monitoring and Reporting

  • Understand and make plan for meeting project related donor requirements, including case-stories/case studies collection, good quality reports are prepared, reviewed and submitted on time. Monitor, review and update activity work plan to ensure that it attains its objectives as cost-effectively and efficiently as possible.
  • Prepare monthly progress updates and quarterly reports to contribute to donor reporting, preparation of management reports.
  • Monitor monthly budget utilization and propose budget review and revision as required for changing context and emerging issues in program implementations.
  • Conduct regular field monitoring visits to partners and communities to learn, exchange perspectives and facilitate participatory learning and improvement in achieving project goal and objectives
  • Support Project Manager to be able to submit the quality reports to the donor.

Capacity Building

  • Demonstrate, facilitate and support that all project interventions are designed and implemented in ActionAid Human Rights Based Approach (HRBA) and feminist values and principles that promote inclusion, participatory leadership (power-decentralization) and accountable collaboration.
  • Support in identifying training needs of the project’s targeted stakeholders: youth and women grassroot leaders of communities and local/community-based organizations, partners, media personnel and project team and participate in developing the training programmes

Others

  • Be responsible to adhere/ comply with organisational policies and procedures
  • Take initiatives and creative ideas of the project activities in a demanding and challenging working environment.
  • Perform relevant tasks assigned by line manager upon the needs of the organization and its operational context.

Education & Certifications

  • University degree in a related field, post graduate study is preferable but not compulsory

Essential Experience

  • Minimum 5-7 years’ experience working in development field, experience working with a partnership approach is highly desirable
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of project management with minimum 5 persons team
  • Good understanding on accountability and governance system and advocacy tools in Myanmar context
  • Experience in practicing participatory approaches, supporting organizational development
  • Team player, ability to take initiative, excellent interpersonal skills, well-organised

Language Proficiency

  • Good communication and writing skills in both Myanmar and English.

Competency Required

  • Knowledge of issues related to civil society and its engagement with government in Myanmar.
  • Experience in small grant management
  • Experience in managing institutional donor funded projects
  • Experience in or sound knowledge on organising advocacy workshops and meeting related to Good Governance or election

Personality Trait

  • Strong interpersonal and motivational skills
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
