A Customs Consultant has first and foremost a broad knowledge of the many facets of international trade and the global flow of goods, which would allow and secure solid client advice in their field of expertise. The Customs and Trade Consultant also possesses great problem-solving skills to provide solutions and recommendations that will increase profitability and efficiency.

The goal is to contribute to the clients’ long-lasting success to expand our reputation along with our clientele.

Key responsibilities

• Organize and execute assigned business projects on behalf of clients, according to client’s defined requirements.

• Actively involve expertise of others where needed.

• Expected to set out own direction and work against set targets.

• Handles/plans own part of project together with delivery leader in large projects.

• Meet with assigned clients when needed and perform an initial assessment of a problematic situation.

• Collect information about the client’s business needs through a variety of methods (shadowing, interviews, surveys, reading reports etc.).

• Analyze and interpret data to unearth weaknesses and problems and comprehend the causes.

• Formulate recommendations and solutions with attention to client’s needs, capabilities and limitations forming concise reports.

• Present findings and suggestions to clients with ample justification and practical advice.

• Develop detailed business plans to drive small or radical changes.

• Assist the client in implementing the plan and resolve any occasional discrepancies.

• Provide guidance of any occurring problems and issues.

• Provide support and guidance in various related questions that may occur

We are looking for

Technical Skills:

• Bachelor of Arts or equivalent

• 5-10 years of Trade Experience required

• 3-5 Years of relevant experience required.

• Specific knowledge in the area of Import/Export documentary requirements and classification

• Jurisdiction determination

• Export licensing application and administration

• End-use/end-user and sanctions screening requirements

• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Excellent oral and written German and English communication skills (French is a plus).

• Legal research and writing experience

• Flexibility to travel to clients in Germany/Switzerland/Austria

• Strong customer relationship skills

• Ability to communicate (verbally and written) effectively with clients, coworkers and senior leadership

• Ability to work effectively with international teams

• Integrity, dependability and adaptability

• Willingness to learn

• Problem-solving approach
