Program / Department Summary

Resource Development (RD) works to raise private funds, cultivating and maintaining relationships with private donors; define the agency’s brand, raising our public profile and sharing stories about our work by engaging with the media, the public, and our supporters; and producing a wide range of online and offline communications. In support of that mission, the Corporate Partnerships Team manages Mercy Corps’ relationships with major US companies by raising unrestricted revenue, co-creating strategically restricted grants and elevating Mercy Corps’ brand profile. We set bold agency-wide strategies, develop and manage relationships with corporate partners, and advance Mercy Corps’ mission through funding and partnerships.

General Position Summary

Mercy Corps is recruiting for a Temporary Senior Officer of Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving to join a dynamic team that is responsible for corporate partnership development and fundraising in support of Mercy Corps’ global operations. The Temporary Senior Officer, Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving will be responsible for implementing and growing a workplace giving program to raise critical funds from employees of key corporate partners and prospects as well as engage employees in Mercy Corps’ mission. This position will directly fundraise and manage relationships with key workplace giving and employee engagement contacts and clients,, and seek to grow philanthropic support from those audiences during a period which will cover global giving moments, annual campaigns at key corporate partners, and the 2022 hurricane season. This position will also manage existing employee engagement opportunities and build new and creative engagement offerings. The successful candidate will have relationship management experience, an understanding of industry trends in corporate social responsibility and workplace giving, and a successful fundraising track record. This temporary position will provide coverage to the Corporate Partnerships team during a planned parental leave.

Essential Job Responsibilities RELATIONSHIP MANAGEMENT & FUNDRAISING

  • Responsible for raising employee giving and matching funds from a portfolio of private sector partners.
  • Manage and cultivate relationships with key corporate partner contacts focused specifically on employee engagement and workplace giving
  • Manage and cultivate relationships with workplace giving federations and fundraising platforms including, Benevity, Global Impact and others.
  • Produce and share a steady stream of communications materials to cultivate, steward and share the impact of their support with corporate partners and their employees
  • Respond to employee giving, matching gift, and employee fundraising queries and initiatives

ENGAGEMENT & REPRESENTATION

  • Design, develop and implement meaningful and creative engagement and volunteer activities for corporate employee audiences
  • Create presentations, event and activity materials, toolkits and other resources for employee engagement and giving opportunities
  • Represent Mercy Corps at employee engagement and workplace giving events as a presenter and facilitator, bringing Mercy Corps’ mission and work to life in compelling, tangible ways.
  • Work across the organization to secure and prepare Mercy Corps program and subject matter experts for relevant employee engagement events and presentations

WORKPLACE GIVING PROGRAM PLANNING AND OPERATIONS

  • Act as a thought-partner to corporate fundraisers on the identification and implementation of workplace giving and employee engagement opportunities as part of the broader strategy and success of our corporate high-value partnerships.
  • Manage the planning, logistics, policies and administrative needs related to strategic pro bono volunteer experiences for partner employees
  • Develop, design and maintain external employee fundraising and matching gift sales and information materials such as fact sheets and digital tool kits in relation to employee engagement, corporate employee giving and matching gifts.
  • In partnership with Director of CFT Services, develop and track financial reporting and analyze workplace giving trends

Reports Directly To: Managing Director, Corporate Partnerships and Engagement

Works Directly With: Corporate Partnership Directors, Corporate Partnership Deputy Directors, Mass Market Fundraising team, Development Operations team, Brand + Digital Marketing team

Accountability to Participants and Stakeholders

Mercy Corps team members are expected to support all efforts toward accountability, specifically to our program participants, community partners, other stakeholders, and to international standards guiding international relief and development work. We are committed to actively engaging communities as equal partners in the design, monitoring and evaluation of our field projects.

Minimum Qualifications & Transferable Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, or transferable work experience and skills
  • At least 4-6 years’ experience in the field of employee engagement, communications, marketing, fundraising or advocacy
  • Successful marketing or fundraising experience or corporate workplace giving program implementation preferred
  • Strong facilitation and project management skills
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with professional demeanor.
  • Demonstrated people skills and customer service experience, track record of managing strong professional relationships.
  • Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work well independently, in a fast-paced environment and balance multiple priorities.
  • Experience in MS Office, Google Drive and Office tools and CRM database software.

Success Factors

The successful Employee Engagement and Workplace Giving Senior Officer will have strong interpersonal skills and excellent written, verbal and presentation skills. They will be highly organized with strong attention to detail, and will be able to balance multiple priorities and work well in a team as well as independently, with minimal supervision. This person will represent Mercy Corps externally and manage high-value partnerships, including corporate partners’ employees, Workplace Giving platforms, vendors and other stakeholders. Finally, this person will have an interest in humanitarian and development issues, be dedicated to Mercy Corps’ mission of helping to build more secure, productive, and just communities, and will share that passion with supporters.

Living Conditions / Environmental Conditions

The position is based in Portland, Oregon or any US remote location and it requires up to 15% travel within the United States.
