About The Job: The Technical Writer is responsible for writing and editing competitive proposals, technical briefs, strategy and approach papers, and marketing materials for internal use and for institutional donors, including USAID, FCDO, USDA, and foundations, as well as for potential implementing partner organizations.

The Technical Writer is responsible for conducting preliminary desk research for background sections, working closely with Corus’ Technical Advisors to articulate the organization’s proposed approach, and collaborating with proposal team members to meet tight deadlines. The Technical Writer will also support Corus’ library of stock language for capacity statements, common proposal sections, and technical approaches. The Technical Writer will identify missing content, provide writing support to fill gaps, and recognize formatting issues.

Additionally, this position will provide content development support to the Foundation Relations team when possible to facilitate information sharing for prospective foundation and private sector/corporate donors, or to address current donor information needs with respect to project reporting and stewardship in consultation with project teams.

Location: Washington DC, Baltimore or Remote

About The Ideal Candidate:

  • Able to review, organize, reorganize, and rewrite technical content from multiple contributors into a coherent whole that expresses complex concepts and issues in a clear, effective manner.
  • Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively, multitask, and be flexible and responsive to quickly changing demands.
  • Experience finalizing a range of documents for publication.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and organizational skills, preferably in the context of donor relations.
  • Strong commitment to accuracy and keen attention to detail.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Word, in particular with formatting and style functions.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work under tight internal and external deadlines.
  • Strong communication skills. The ability to work as a culturally aware team player and able to work in an international setting.
  • Fluency in English is required, Spanish or French language capacity a major plus.

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years professional writing and editing experience, preferably for international NGOs on USAID or other institutional donor written deliverables.
  • Bachelor’s degree in global health, economic development, communications, journalism, or a related field. Masters preferred.
