Salary: $20.78 – $27.78 (Hourly)

Reports to: Assistant Superintendent, Office of Family and Community Engagement

Bargaining Unit: DAEOE

In accordance with the Agreement between the Detroit Association of Educational Office Employees (DAEOE) and the Board of Education of the School District of the City of Detroit, the following vacancy is announced.

Position Summary

The Office of Family and Community Engagement is looking for a Technical Series III to support the departments significant cross-functional initiatives that are aligned to Family and Community Engagement.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Associates Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • Technical training and/or experience in applications preferred (e.g. PeopleSoft Finance, Payroll, Cherwell and PowerSchool)
  • Proficiency in SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and survey design tools, such as Qualtrics/Microsoft Forms).
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel functionality, via spreadsheets, graphing, tables and calculations and other business-related applications/software including Office 365 (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Advanced knowledge and experience with Title I policies and expenditures
  • Ability to work effectively, proven organizational skills, and ability to perform multi-tasks and prioritize work in a fast-paced environment to meet tight deadlines
  • Knowledge and experience with advanced office procedures, including filing systems, record keeping systems, business correspondence, and reporting formats.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for coordinating office services, preparing a variety of reports, correspondence and related documents, data collection, assisting with budget preparation, maintaining records, staff training, and special projects;
  • Participate in special projects as assigned. Review work to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to quality standards, policies, and procedures
  • Assist with the planning, preparation and scheduling of meetings and other events.
  • Assist with and/or prepare logistical and material resources for team meetings, workshops, and conferences.
  • Takes and transcribes dictation and composes and prepares confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents.
  • Attend evening Board meetings and Board committee meetings.
  • Screen, prioritize, resolve and manage incoming communications, including phone calls, emails and other written correspondence of assigned executives.
  • Maintain address and telephone files as required
  • Assist with coordination of activities with other department staff engaged in program activities to meet educational objectives.
  • Coordinates and assist with planning of conferences and meetings; make travel reservations and keep calendar of appointments for executives.
  • Ability to exercise initiative, use good discretion and judgment, work as part of team, and work in a fast-paced environment with minimum direction
  • Excellent customer service and problem-solving skills; ability to be flexible;
  • Fulfill other technical duties and responsibilities as assigned by Assistant Superintendent or designee.
