BBC Media Action uses media and communications to help reduce poverty and promote human rights in developing countries. To achieve this, BBC Media Actions partners with civil society, local media and governments to:

  • Produce creative programmes based on robust research in multi-media formats, which inform and engage audiences on key development issues.
  • Strengthen the media sector through building professional capacity and infrastructure.

This role will be in the Eastern Europe and Central Asia (EECA) programme and report to the Finance Manager.

Job specific responsibilities and accountabilities

Job-specific responsibilities

  • The Team Assistant will provide administrative and logistical support to the projects managed by the EECA team. The role will be responsible for a broad range of administrative tasks related to the different projects.
  • Work with project teams and provide support with contracting consultants, organising travel, processing invoices and expense claims, maintaining financial records of project expenditure.
  • To support project activities, including arranging the logistics for trainings and webinars, and supporting freelancers whilst they deliver their work for the EECA team.
  • Liaise with and assist the finance staff on routine financial issues, where required, including the review of all freelancer costs from SmartBooks, and ensure supporting documentation is appropriately filed for reporting purposes.
  • To support with donor reporting including collating supporting documentation to support the activities.
  • To support the Region’s business development efforts by pulling together supporting documentation and ensuring administrative requirements of donor calls are observed.
  • To accurately monitor and update consultants’ movements throughout the region for security purposes, to ensure Risk Assessments are completed correctly.
  • Actively participate in regular team meetings, contributing to discussions and decisions that will benefit the region.
  • To develop good relations and maintain excellent communication channels with other teams and departments.
  • Provide cover for team assistants with in the EECA programme

Safeguarding

  • Understand and comply with the Safeguarding policy and the staff Code of Conduct.
  • Participate in relevant mandatory training on Safeguarding and Respect at Work.
  • The Project assistant will be expected to report any Safeguarding concerns immediately, either to the Country Director or the Finance Manager, or using the Whistleblowing Policy.
