HOURLY RATE OF PAY: £10.50 ph. for a Specialist Support Worker and £10.00 ph. for a Support Worker (Currently £9.50 and £9.33 respectively).

To qualify as a Specialist Support Worker, you will need to have completed your Care Certificate (transfers accepted) or have 2 years relevant specialist experience. If you start with us as a Support Worker, you will qualify for £10.50 ph. once you have completed your Care Certificate with us (usually 12 weeks to complete).

HOURS: 35.58

SHIFT: 3 week rolling rota including earlies, lates and long days.

EARLY SHIFT 7am – 5pm = 10 hrs

LATE SHIFT 5pm 10.15pm = 5.25 hrs

LONG DAY 7am -10.15pm = 15.25 hrs

Staff in CQC Registered and Supported Living services are required to undertake sleep-in shifts and receive an allowance, topped up to NLW where appropriate.

About The Specialist Support Worker Role

We are seeking a Specialist Support Worker with 2 years experience of supporting autistic adults. This is a full time and permanent position working for a very well-established autistic care provider. Very interesting and varied role with a scope for progression.

KAT provide practical and emotional support to ensure the adults we care for enjoy active lives in the community. We support individuals on a 1:1 basis with complex needs, including physical and learning disabilities.

We are an outstanding care employer and very proud of the specialist PBS training, coaching and ongoing support that our practice development team provide to our staff.

Meet The Team

Homersham is a Supported Living service, a short walk away from the vibrant hustle and bustle of Canterbury. It has 6 tenants, 5 men, and 1 lady aged between 19-26. There are 3 self-contained flats and 3 ensuite bedrooms with a shared communal area.

Our tenants participate in a wide range of activities and enjoy visiting attractions such as zoos, theme parks, and days out in London. When at the service our tenants enjoy a spot of baking, board games, and watching game shows on TV. They also enjoy the lovely outdoor space where they love tending the flower beds and having barbeques in the summer months.

The specialist staff team in situ are looking forward to welcoming a new colleague and has suggested we let you know they love a Team Bake Off and a good boot fair, they are all friendly and eager to welcome you to the team!

Tasks / Responsibilities of a Specialist Support Worker (may include but not limited to):

  • Working with individuals who can display challenging behaviours hurting self or others, running away, throwing things, swearing, shouting and damaging property.
  • Support individuals within the community in activities such as bike rides, long walks & shopping.
  • Administering medication
  • Assisting individuals with personal care and hygiene
  • Be confident & experienced in lone working.
  • Staff in CQC Registered and Supported Living services are required to undertake sleep-in shifts and receive an allowance, topped up to NLW
  • Household management tasks including cooking, cleaning etc.
  • Uphold their privacy, confidentially and dignity.
  • Handle money to shop, going to the bank etc.
  • Working with and supporting individuals with additional needs, such as epilepsy, pica, learning disabilities.
  • To form good working relationships with other members of staff across different services.
  • Ensuring written records are correctly maintained.
  • Drive a mobility car or service vehicle. Manual Licence required
