Basic Purpose

Mortgage Financial Reporting is a team within Real Estate Lending department and more specifically the Mortgage & Equity Servicing Branch.

Our team is responsible for the reconciliation of over 20 general ledger accounts which are comprised of activity related to mortgage origination and servicing processes. The management of these accounts can require in depth research and working with various business units to resolve discrepancies. In addition, we manage the reconciliation of transactions posting to the mortgage servicing system to ensure accuracy of the daily transactions and providing internal controls. On a monthly basis, our team prepares reporting of the months mortgage activity for leadership and business partners.

Responsibilities

  • Balance and reconcile Navy Federal core processing system transactions and totals to ensure general ledger and member account accuracy
  • Identify and initiate adjustments; resolve posting errors and discrepancies related to out of balance conditions
  • Conduct initial research of inquiries and discrepancies using applicable tools; determine resolution; communicate to appropriate business partners
  • Involvement in month end account reconciliation
  • Identify operational efficiencies and make recommendations of solution

Qualifications

  • Must be pursuing an undergraduate or higher degree from an accredited college/university
  • Experience working in an accounting or banking operation
  • Working knowledge of financial transaction posting systems and reconciliation principles, procedures, and processes
  • Effective research, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Effective organizational, time management and planning skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication
  • Effective skill performing mathematical calculations and working accurately with numbers
  • Effective skill maintaining accuracy with attention to detail and meeting deadlines
  • Effective word processing and spreadsheet software skills
  • Undergraduate students only

Navy Federal is now hybrid! Our standard enterprise requirement for a hybrid schedule is to report on-site 4-16 days each month. The number of days reporting on-site will ultimately be determined by the employee’s leadership and business unit needs. You will learn more throughout the hiring and on boarding process.

Salary Range: $15.00 – $30.10 hourly

Navy Federal Credit Union assesses market data to establish salary ranges that enable us to remain competitive. Within this range, pay will be determined based on factors such as individual qualifications, location, and market position.
