The Role:

ActionAid International is the global secretariat of a federation of 45 country offices and programmes working for a world free from poverty and injustice. We’re looking for a Stories Officer to join our communications and campaigns team as we prepare to launch a new global campaign for climate justice.

As Stories Officer, you’ll be joining a high-performing team, responsible for continuing to deliver significant increases in ActionAid’s global media coverage and social media following.

You will oversee the management and development of ActionAid International’s global content database, and take a leading role in commissioning, capturing, editing, quality checking and distributing multi-media content for campaigns, media and fundraising. You will also support the implementation of key aspects of International Child Protection, including training staff on consent ensuring that content is General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) compliant.

You’ll use your exceptional communication skills to build relationships and work closely with ActionAid countries to amplify their visibility and develop stories with both national and international significance.

Who we’re looking for:

  • Substantial experience working in a multi-media communications production environment including experience commissioning, directing, editing and curating multi-media products
  • Substantial editorial or journalism experience.
  • Good experience of training, capacity building and supporting others through on the job training.
  • Experience of gathering high quality content in the global south.
  • Experience of commissioning and working with freelance journalists, story gatherers and photographers.
  • You should have Interest in and understanding of new development in visual imaging and multimedia and a commitment to continually improving your digital skills and knowledge within the working environment
