Key objectives

  • Work closely with South Sudan Juba Warehouse Team to run full stock count of Juba warehouse including a 100% match with data in the warehouse management system (system update).
  • During above exercise, identify dead stock and dispose to allow for additional warehousing space.
  • Work closely with South Sudan Juba Warehouse Team to Identify root causes of data inaccuracy and potential bottlenecks by mapping the warehouse process and consequently, create solutions.
  • Empower the South Sudan Juba Warehouse Team through training and capacity building to adopt suggested solutions and remove root causes for data inaccuracy.
  • Proposing ways to improve communication between team members involved in stock management (Programmes, Warehouse, Procurement, etc.)
  • Set Medair South Sudan country program staff on the path to re-establish trust in data accuracy and align on efficient and effective warehouse processes.

Output

  1. Physical inventory done and 100% match with system data.
  2. Dead stock is removed from warehouse.
  3. Root causes of data inaccuracy are identified and solutions created.
  4. Processes are implemented to ensure data accuracy moving forward.
  5. Medair South Sudan country program staff has trust in data in the warehouse management system and is familiar with efficient and effective warehouse processes.
  6. The warehouse team demonstrates ownership and takes responsibility for good stock management and is motivated to continuously improve services provided to the programme teams.

Workplace & Working Conditions

Field based position in Juba, South Sudan. Accommodation will be shared housing with provision of food or food allowance.

Starting Date / Initial Contract Details

As soon as possible, 3 months. Final report deadline: 5 days after assignment.

Essential profile of the consultant

  • Minimum 4 years relevant logistics and management experience in emergency and/or development context.
  • Previous experience with Medair is a big asset.
  • Demonstrated excellent experience in warehouse management, inventory control, and stock counts.
  • Demonstrated good experience with warehouse systems and has technical ability to review, analyse and update system data.
  • Demonstrated good experience in capacity building national staff.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with both logistics and programme teams.
  • Experience working in a cross-cultural setting, preferably in the logistics sector.
  • Capacity to work under pressure & tight deadlines.
  • Able to confront issues in a diplomatic and constructive way.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Successful completion of Medair ROC or HEAT Training (not older than 5 years). Certificate to be provided.

Transportation

Flights to and from South Sudan will be covered by Medair as well as ground transportation within South Sudan.
