Project Overview:

The Pacific Labour Facility (PLF) facilitates seasonal and longer-term work opportunities for Pacific workers in Australia. It connects Australian employers with Pacific workers under the newly introduced Pacific Australia Labour Mobility (PALM) scheme which combines the existing Pacific Labour Scheme (PLS) and Seasonal Worker Programme (SWP).

Role Overview:

The Employer Onboarding Manager will be responsible for the PLFs support to prospective PALM scheme employers through the application process, their induction into the program and the Approved Employers (AEs) first recruitment of workers. The role will work closely with PLF Relationship Managers and the Recruitment Services Manager to ensure a smooth experience for AEs joining and using the PALM scheme.

The Employer Onboarding Manager will have duties that include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provide leadership, support and manage the activities of the employer onboarding team
  • Engage with stakeholders to facilitate change
  • In consultation with DFAT, periodically review and update formal application and assessment processes to facilitate employers’ entry into the scheme
  • Maintain accurate records and systematic filing and support the PLF in update of documents, processes, workflows, and operational guidelines
  • Manage high quality reporting to key stakeholders including PLF management, DFAT, AEs
  • Participate in forums and engagement with key stakeholders on emerging challenges
  • Build strong working relationships with potential and approved employers
  • Manage the pipeline of new employer assessments
  • Escalate applications received from employers in high risk industries, or industries that are new to the PALM scheme, for consideration by senior management
  • Develop a detailed understanding of all the functions delivered by the PLF and the PALM Scheme Deed and Guidelines
  • Oversee the design and delivery of a comprehensive induction program for new AEs
  • Provide support to new AEs through their initial recruitments and ensure they are effectively transitioned to Relationship Managers

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant Human Resources/ Industrial Relations or business-related qualification
  • Relevant work experience in a similar role, demonstrating high quality outcomes in service delivery, organising ability and performance
  • Experience in team management including the provision of performance planning, support and coaching
  • Demonstrated experience and ability to work cooperatively with a diverse client base, and to deal with an extensive range of industries
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and appropriately in a culturally diverse environment
  • Proven ability to plan and manage schedules, as well as to keep confidentiality of documents and information
  • Driver’s licence and flexibility to undertake frequent travel, including after hours and weekends and including interstate and international
