The Volunteer Coordinators will coordinate activities with STEP staff to provide comprehensive services to all survivors of human trafficking. Provide outreach and trainings to service providers and immigrant groups within the Austin, Texas area to increase public awareness and identification of trafficking survivors and STEP programming. Recruit and manage volunteers and faith-based communities to assist with client services, raise donations, and offer additional support to clients. Assist STEP Case Managers with case file documentation, appointments and referrals and donation logging. Ensure services are provided in compliance with contract requirements and that documentation is completed in a timely manner. Serve as an advocate and resource for Refugee Services of Texas and all human trafficking survivors.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop relationships with faith-based, civic and community organizations and groups to identify resources and develop sustainable support for all survivors of trafficking
  • Conduct training and public awareness activities for law enforcement and social service professionals on identifying ALL forms of trafficking and RGV STEP programming
  • Organize and implement a yearly anti-trafficking conference for law enforcement, prosecution, and victim service providers**
  • Recruit, train, orient, and supervise volunteers to assist with STEP life skills building tasks as public transportation orientation, interview practice, budgeting and additional life skills activities as identified
  • Act as a liaison with community and faith-based groups who wish to aid recently rescued individuals and families through cash, in-kind, and mentoring support
  • Maintain a volunteer and outreach tracking system of contact information, level of support, trainings provided to date, etc.
  • Record all relevant data on volunteer hours and cash and in-kind donations in RST monthly reports and TIMS
  • Log all public awareness, training, and outreach activities conducted by STEP staff along with performance measures as the number of attendees, target audience, etc.
  • Attend Coalition Against Human Trafficking in Texas meetings as requested
  • Assist Case Managers with support as needed, documenting all activities in TIMS
  • Adheres to policies related to boundaries with youth.
  • Attends required abuse risk management training.
  • Adheres to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.
  • Reports suspicious or inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse reporting requirements.

  • Bachelors Degree preferred

  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written English, fluency in Spanish required

  • Previous experience working with volunteers, for at least one year, in a position that required public outreach, continual use of public speaking skills, and advocacy

  • Computer proficient including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, and Outlook)

  • Valid Texas drivers license and minimum mandatory Texas automobile insurance coverage; Must have a car for frequent local travel
