Salary range: $3,800-4,200 (FTE)

The role

In this role, you will join the growing CLEAR Global tech team to work on various projects requiring language technology such as voice or text enabled chatbots, machine translation and automatic speech recognition (ASR). The core of the role will be on maintaining the Natural Language Understanding (NLU) components and building applications using NLU pipelines, system integration and APIs

Responsibilities include (with mentorship and guidance from the CLEAR team):

  • Ensure that we have the right NLU pipeline for initial use case
  • Provide support for the multilingual assistant, and advise on deployment architecture needed
  • Support and improve automatic build process
  • Set up automated testing (NLU and dialogue performance) and ensure efficient regression testing
  • Help on-board local content teams (communicate around appropriate format and design for the technology) and sustain collaboration throughout the project

These responsibilities are approximate and may change over time.

Requirements

You should be enthusiastic about the importance of increasing access to knowledge through language. The right candidate is an energetic team player, flexible and dynamic in approach, who agrees with CLEAR’s basic beliefs and values and who can work remotely with team members based throughout the world.

  • Degree in computer science
  • Masters with specialization in machine learning and NLP preferred
  • Practical machine learning experience with a good understanding of its underlying processes
  • Experience with handling language data (text and speech) a plus
  • Solid programming skills in Python, other programming languages a plus
  • Experience with virtual assistant development a plus (preference with Rasa)
  • Experience working with a variety of languages (ie. not only English and including languages using non-Latin writing systems) a plus
  • Excellent working knowledge of written and spoken English
  • Proactive and collaborative approach to working in a team

This role would focus on building solutions for the Ukrainian response team.
