Description

Implement the activities under the Orphans project (child protection, education):

  • Collect essential data and information for the selection of orphaned children and their families, for the implementation of the program, through home visits and field surveys.
  • Participate in the selection of orphaned children with the MEAL team based on the diagnosis of their vulnerability in order to integrate them into the program.
  • Establish and maintain networks with existing community structures and other partners for referral and networking purposes.
  • Conduct awareness/information sessions with guardians and children on (education, protection, mental health).
  • Facilitation of parenting support sessions with guardians.
  • Conduct life skills support sessions with young-orphaned children and their siblings (communication, leadership, project management, etc.)
  • Organize socio-cultural and recreational activities for orphaned children and other children in the community.
  • Conduct group and individual PSS sessions for the beneficiaries as specified in the project.
  • Identify orphan children who are vulnerable or experiencing abuse, neglect, exploitation or violence and offer appropriate support
  • Assist families in opening bank/ e-wallet accounts to receive the scholarship.
  • Identify the needs of households in terms of children’s education (materials, school support, enrolment assistance, etc.).
  • Accompany the beneficiary families in the enrolment of their children in school via the mapping of educational actors in the intervention zone, information on enrolment conditions and support for administrative procedures.
  • Follow up on the schooling of the sponsored orphaned child (results, difficulties, orientation)

 

Implement the activities under Seasonal Project:

  • Identification and selection of beneficiaries for seasonal food/NFI distribution projects.
  • Conduct Household/beneficiary assessments for seasonal projects.
  • Conduct the distributions of food and NF Items in the assigned areas.
  • Maintain a record of beneficiaries for the distributions.
  • Assist in conducting post-distribution monitoring after each distribution.
  • Assist in preparing reports for food and NF items under SIF seasonal projects.

Monitoring, evaluation and project reporting

  • Write reports on the field and office activities after each activity.
  • Report to the protection team leader on the progress of activities and potential difficulties.
  • Participate in capacity-building activities, training and exchange of best practices.
  • Contribute, through regular monitoring of sponsored children and in collaboration with the MEAL. team, to the analysis of this consolidated data on the situation of the children and their families. and to the monitoring of project indicators, particularly results and impact indicators.
  • Preparation of success stories periodically;

Reporting Donors

  • Participate in the preparation of the annual, individual reports of sponsored orphaned children.

Implementation of the SIF Child Protection Policy

  • Contribute to the mapping of child safeguarding risks for the sponsorship project, the identification of measures to manage these risks, their implementation and monitoring.
  • Ensure that only essential data to the program is collected and managed in accordance with the principles of “Confidentiality” and “Best interests of the Child”.

 


Qualifications & Preferred Skills

  1. Education degree 
  • Education: University Degree in a related field (e.g. Social Work, Psychology, English language or equivalent is an asset).

 

 Knowledge

  • Knowledge of international and national child protection and safeguarding standards .
  • Knowledge of CHS Core Humanitarian Standards.
  • Knowledge of cross cutting issues considered an asset (disability, gender, inclusion, etc.).

Specific competencies

  • Technical expertise in child protection
  • Experience in social work, especially in case management
  • Teamwork skills
  • Organizational skills
  • Communication skills with children

 Languages

Proficiency in Kurdish, Arabic and English is an advantage.

Computer skills

Knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook and internet research methods
