Contract: 6 Month Fixed Term Contract (with view to extend for another 6 months)

Hours: This is a full-time role

About the role

We are looking for a are looking for an energetic, proactive person to support Country Office program officers and manager ensure that all our programs are inclusive and responsive to the needs of disabled and marginalized groups.

As the Social Inclusion Intern you will represent Sightsavers at meetings, work with Organisations for People with Disabilities (OPDs) and people with disabilities in countries where Sightsavers provide services and provide education to marginalized communities so they can access the services.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Support the country office programme team in identifying challenged faced to our services in the counties we work.
  • Working with partners to coordinate awareness activities.
  • Establish a data base for OPDS in the counties where we operate
  • Support advocacy initiatives.
  • Establish link with the National Organization of the disabled and NCD and attend all partners meetings
  • Service as the country office inclusive focal persons and liaise with Government agencies, partners and NGOs.

About you

As the ideal candidate you will need:

  • Possess a Degree (or equivalent) or working experience in social sciences with significant interest in the field social inclusion and advocacy.
  • Be a hard-working individual with good organisational skills which are required to meet the workloads and daily and weekly deadlines.
  • As a keen learner you will be involved in all aspects of programming from the inception phase right through to evaluation.
  • Strong skills in training and coaching.
  • Strong passion for working with persons with disabilities and marginalized group.
  • Experience writing and communications skills.
  • This is a hands-on internship, so passion, enthusiasm, and a desire to learn all things program management, facilitation skills and reporting etc.
  • Fluent written and spoken English.
