CanadaHelps

Position Overview:

CanadaHelps is seeking a passionate, data-driven SEO & Content Marketing Specialist for our CanadaHelps.org and UniteForChange.com websites ready to apply their skills to create a positive social impact.

This is an exciting opportunity to join one of Canada’s first, and North America’s most successful, social enterprises. We are a growing, dedicated team of entrepreneurial-minded peers who have a passion for helping charities succeed online. We democratize access to technology by providing best-in-class, easy-to-use online fundraising software and training to more than 25,000 registered charities across Canada (and the number of charities is rapidly growing). We are the market leader and over the past 20 years we’ve helped over 3 million Canadians donate over $2B to Canadian charities.

Reporting to the eCommerce Marketing Manager, you will be responsible for developing and executing SEO and content strategy to drive traffic, engagement, and revenue, using eCommerce best practices. On CanadaHelps.org, you’ll create relevant content to drive engagement and donations, maintain our strong authority, and have a long-tail of over 90,000 charities, categories, campaigns, and fundraisers to drive traffic to. On UniteForChange.com, you’ll help us develop strategy and content from the ground up for an exciting, new website targeted to a younger audience who cares deeply about causes, current events, and issues. You will be responsible for on-page, off-page, and technical SEO recommendations and content creation.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop plans and tactics to improve our SEO, including keyword research, identifying and filling content gaps, and optimizing existing content.
  • Recommend technical site improvements and supervise SEO-friendly page construction, providing briefs to developers and consulting with our product and engineering teams on SEO best practices.
  • Research, outline, and write compelling original content, as well as work with external agency and freelance support.
  • Provide meta-tag copy and make content/keyword suggestions throughout our website.
  • Recommend and implement off-page SEO strategies to help build authority.
  • Run SEO reports, measure performance, and share analysis with stakeholders.
  • Keep abreast of the latest SEO developments and news, especially as it pertains to algorithm updates and technical aspects of SEO.

Skills & Experience:

  • 2+ years of SEO experience, in an eCommerce environment, including on-page, technical, and off-page tactics and strategies.
  • Strong expertise in Google Search Console and Google Analytics.
  • Strong expertise using SEO tools, such as Screaming Frog, ahrefs, Surfer SEO, or similar tools.
  • Strong writing and proofreading skills, with experience writing long-form content.
  • Highly accountable for your work, you are organized and have strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and rapport-building skills, you can communicate and translate requirements easily with both business stakeholders as well as creative and technical teams.
  • Excellent understanding of technology, aptitude for and interest in learning new technologies, tools, and software.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, particularly PowerPoint and Excel, or Google Sheets/Google Slides.
  • Hands-on experience using WordPress (or similar tools), an asset.
  • University degree, preferably in business, marketing, or a related field.

You will excel in this role if you:

  • You have a passion for all-things-SEO, including content strategy and creation.
  • You are analytical in nature and have a desire for continuous learning and improvement.
  • You enjoy keeping your technical and analytical skills sharp.
  • You are capable of managing multiple projects and campaigns concurrently to on-time completion.
  • You’re a true self-starter with a can-do attitude; you love a challenge, and you work well independently and across teams to get the job done.
  • You love a fast-paced environment and work well under pressure and tight deadlines.
  • You’re looking for a career where you can make a positive social impact.

Here’s what we have to offer:

  • A full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary, benefits, and RRSP matching.
  • A chance to make a difference and a unique opportunity to add major value as a key member of a small team in a forward-thinking, technology-focused environment, with a lifestyle-friendly atmosphere.
  • The opportunity to work with and learn from highly-respected professionals (and super nice people who want to change the world for the better!)
  • A “get things done”, open, collaborative, and flexible environment.

At CanadaHelps, we are deeply committed to upholding a culture of respect, equality, and inclusion. We offer competitive salaries and perform regular benchmark analyses to ensure the compensation of all team members is within market ranges. Core to our values, we regularly conduct internal pay audits to eliminate pay gaps and ensure pay equity. We believe these are effective measures to achieve change. Seeking to hire from a diverse pool of talent to pursue our ambitious mission, and understanding some individuals prefer a level of pay privacy and confidentiality, we share salary range information with the candidates we meet.
