Summary of the position

The Senior project officer’s responsibilities include delivering every project’s deliverable on time within budget and scope. Enabling the PO of his team from their daily tasks and ensuring they are will be supported in challenges.

Key relationships:

Grant department, Syria Office, Information management unit, Project Finance department, Procurement department, advisory department.

Main tasks and responsibilities:

Projects management

  • Closely coordinate with the projects manager
  • Coordinate resources for the flawless execution of projects.
  • Ensure that project(s) are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
  • Contribute to timely and quality implementation of the project in line with its work plan.
  • Assist the projects department manager in developing project scopes and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility.
  • Ensure resource availability and allocation.
  • Provide technical recommendations when needed.
  • Assist the projects department manager in the development of detailed project plans to track progress.
  • Use appropriate verification techniques to manage changes in project scope, schedule, and costs.
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools, and techniques.
  • Contribute to sufficient follow-up of the procurement plan, review, and validate the purchase order within the time and scope of the project.
  • Perform risk management to minimize project risks.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation.
  • Ensure and track projects spending on a monthly basis from all donors.
  • Ensure required reporting is done timely and accurately.
  • Attend a weekly meeting to review the project status with the Program team.
  • Conduct regular meetings with the partners to review the implementation of the project.
  • Provide the projects manager with regular reports and feedback about the performance of the partners.
  • Provide support to the projects manager in identifying of new potential partners.

Staff management

  • Ensure the project staff have job descriptions and are aware of their responsibilities.
  • Develop performance objectives for each member of staff. Evaluate staff according to SAMS HR policy.
  • Develop professional development plans for project staff.
  • Delegate appropriately.
  • Build an effective team approach- ensuring project staff are working together effectively.
  • Hold weekly team meetings with project staff for planning purposes, information sharing and problem-solving.
  • Conduct monthly field visits to NWS.

THE CANDIDATE’S REQUIREMENTS

Mandatory Qualifications required:

  • A university degree in any field is required. A university degree in Medical Science is desirable.
  • proven experience of a minimum of 3 years in a Health and nutrition project Officer position.

Languages:

Fluent written and spoken in Arabic (native) and Upper-intermediate written and spoken in English
