PxD is looking for a driven, creative and independent person to join a high-performing, flexible and non-hierarchical team as Senior Program Manager (India). The successful candidate will support a key strategic project for PxD in India, and will work in collaboration with state governments, private/social enterprises and researchers.

This position may have opportunities to travel.

Responsibilities (including but not limited to):

  • Refine vision and strategy for specific programs with the senior leadership and effectively implement the same, make recommendations on program prioritization and objectives
  • Assess the performance of programs, and build a culture of continuous improvement with input from the research, agronomy and technology teams
  • Assess the effectiveness of systems and processes, and recommend improvements
  • Build strong institutional relationships with partners at every level including government, private sector, non-profit and research partners
  • Develop and manage projects’ work plans, stakeholder communications, and the implementation of monitoring systems within set deadlines and budgets
  • Manage contracts, grants and sub-partner monitoring functions at the state level including managing deliverables, reporting and spending rates
  • Directly supervise and mentor project staff (Program Associates, Field staff, Agronomy team, Interns)
  • Keep track of project budgets and the financial health of individual projects, and collaborate with the finance team to provide inputs for accurate budgeting and cash flow calculations
  • Contribute to PxD institutional knowledge management and internal learning efforts
  • Contribute to general management tasks important for the organization’s functioning and success – including but not limited to budgeting, hiring, internal and external communications and strategic planning

We need someone who has the following skills:

  • Proven experience at a manager-level leading large programs and bringing individual projects to scale
  • Self-motivated with the ability to drive and lead large programs independently including developing strategy, setting and refining goals, measuring success
  • Proven experience with partnership development and management at all levels with the energy, patience and proactive problem-solving skills needed to co-create solutions, particularly with governments
  • Proven experience hiring, motivating and growing a high-performing team of varied backgrounds
  • Proven experience with incorporating evidence gathered via research into user-centric program delivery; driving a culture of continuous innovation
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong time management, organization and planning skills
  • Strong negotiation and decision-making skills
  • A Bachelor’s degree or an industry-relevant equivalent qualification
