Position Summary:
IREX seeks qualified Senior Inclusive Development Advisor (SIDA) candidates to support an anticipated five-year USAID-funded inclusive development activity to bolster Missions and DC-based operating units’ ability to represent and address the needs of marginalized, under-represented populations and/or people in vulnerable situations (MUGPVs). The activity will address programmatic gaps to respond to the needs and priorities of MUGVPs and communities of all diverse identities and experiences and build the capacity of organizations that serve MUGVPs to help them meet their goals. The SIDA will spearhead a strategy to advance inclusive development programming to MUGVPs. This will include utilizing cross-cutting, inclusive design, and implementation, for Leader and Associate Awards.
This position is contingent on funding.
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement a strategy to increase the number of local organizations that advance inclusive development and meet the needs of MUGVP communities.
- Increase staff capacity in local organizations to help implement inclusive development programs.
- Brief the Mission and help USAID, implementing partners, and program participants understand topics related to inclusive development.
- Ensure the integration of inclusive development into MEL planning, including taking into consideration existing evidence about inclusive development interventions that have been successful, piloted, and/or are untested.
- Provide technical leadership on regional and/or cross-regional activities that advance inclusive development, including ensuring an inclusive development approach to local capacity strengthening.
- Oversee the program’s activities targeting inclusive development, including facilitating opportunities for cross-learning.
- Serve as core member of project leadership team responsible for providing strategic and technical leadership to the project.
- Ensure diversity, equity, and inclusion throughout the project.
- Other duties, as assigned.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Master’s degree (or higher) in a relevant social science (i.e., sociology, demography, psychology, political science, and economics), (or equivalent combination of education and work experience in a relevant area).
- At least ten (10) years of relevant experience in inclusive development and localization.
- Demonstrated experience in leading program coordination, strategic planning, and project design with marginalized communities.
- Demonstrated understanding of inclusive development.
- Demonstrated experience working with marginalized groups and integrating relevant consideration into programmatic approaches.
